Boston Red Sox at Kansas City Royals, Sep 21, 2009
Boston Red Sox at Kansas City Royals, Sep 21, 2009 8:10 PM EDT
Sox begin a crucial, critical series against the Kansas City Royals. That is, if they're shooting for the division. If they're shooting for the Wild Card, then this series almost doesn't matter. In any event, there should be a lot of shooting going on. Of fish. In a barrell. Go Sox.

What's the hold up?
It’s almost 7:30 and Gameday says we are still in lineups. Is this wrong?

Doubly late
Considering KC apparently looks like the MIssissippi today. Lets hope we can squeeze this one in, we don’t need a double header on top of the no off days.

Yuniesky Betancourt has an awesome name
that that was what stuck out to me the most about KC’s lineup does not bode well for the Royals

Baseball should take a week off.
I need to watch House.
And How I Met Your Mother
And decide whether or not I’m willing to bother with more Heroes.
My girlfriend watches Gossip Girl
so I am recording House for 2 hours and HIMYM and GG. Unfortunately I have to miss both the game and Heroes (tell you the truth, I’ve pretty much given up on the show)

I had to watch the game at a bowling alley
Because she refused to watch the game at the bar I watched every game that postseason (we worked together, and I was watching it with co-workers…..she wanted to keep us a secret that early). As the game went extras she wanted to leave, but I refused. Big fight on our first date, but hey, we pulled through.

Fire the pitchers like Beckett, then
That feel more comfortable throwing to him. Don’t get me wrong, Tek sucks. But if Beckett and Matsuzaka are more comfortable with him behind the plate, he should catch them—and then be pinch-hit for after they’re out of the game.

I agree even though you were being sarcastic
If Beckett needs Tek, Beckett should go. Same for Dice-K
Putting a team on the field that is not the best during the playoffs is not acceptable.
VARITEK MUST GO
Tek is going to have to make an appearance or two during the post-season
VMart cannot catch every game—even with the off-days, that’s asking a lot.
That's just dumb
Beckett isn’t going anywhere. Tek either won’t be on the team or, if he is, he’ll be the back-up next year. He’ll have all spring to work with Beckett and Dice-K.
As for putting the best team on the field, pitching wins games. If Beckett and Dice are more comfortable with Tek, they’ll likely pitch better—thereby, making the Sox a better team in that game.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

Look at it this way
The only team that can break the bank are the MFY. They want to pare payroll. They have $166 million on the books for next year. They might extend Damon at a pay cut for a year until Austin Jackson is ready.
If the MFY aren’t in on Holliday, the price for everyone goes down. But, even if they sign Holliday for $15-$20 million, the Sox don’t have to match that with Bay. Who else will pay even $12-$15 million in this economy?

It's those freakin' 7% of body fat that he took off last season

Does EQBRR factor in SB numbers?
‘Cause if so, I’d bet he’s the only guy with 17 SBs who’s nearly that low.

It was Betancourt.
The ball could have flown over the scoreboard, and still managed to find it’s way into a glove.

If that's the case, they should have called this game off.
It got beyond ridiculous in the fourth inning.
It depends on the forecast
The Sox have no days off the rest of the year. I’d rather not see them play doubleheaders.

This late in the season they don't want to have doubles or make ups
especially considering there is no garuntee we wont get rained out again later in the week
These games matter, were in a division battle (knocks on wood)

They scored 44 runs last week
Including games where they had 3 runs and 0 runs. They’re a feast-or-famine offense.
Okay, Butler's doubing is getting a little annoying.
