Bloody Sox Laundry, 9/20 - The "UF Didn't Beat The Spread", Ells Beats the 0-2 Count Edition
Let's get the Sox stuff out of the way first:
Jacoby Ellsbury and 0-2 counts - Extra Bases
VERY interesting stuff. I wonder if this is why his OBP has risen this season?
Roger Clemens* Keeps Digging Via Twitter - Fenway West
Poor Rogah. Just apologize already, man.
Team WAR vs Actual Wins - Beyond the Box Score
Graphs are fun. No breaking news here, but just good info to have.
After the jump, I pay up on the bet with Brad West.
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band - Rocky Top lyrics
Wish that I was on ole rocky top,
Down in the tennessee hills.
Aint no smoggy smoke on rocky top,
Aint no telephone bills.
Once there was a girl on rocky top,
Half bear the other half cat.
Wild as a mink, sweet as soda pop,
I still dream about that.
Rocky top, youll always be
Home sweet home to me.
Good ole rocky top,
Rocky top tennessee, rocky top tennessee.
Once two strangers climbed on rocky top,
Lookin for a moonshine still.
Strangers aint come back from rocky top,
Guess they never will.
Corn wont grow at all on rocky top,
Dirts too rocky by far.
Thats why all the folks on rocky top
Get their corn from a jar.
Rocky top, youll always be
Home sweet home to me.
Good ole rocky top,
Rocky top tennessee, rocky top tennessee.
Now Ive had years of cramped up city life,
Trapped like a duck in a pen.
Now all I know is its a pity life
Cant be simple again.
Rocky top, youll always be
Home sweet home to me.
Good ole rocky top,
Rocky top tennessee, rocky top tennessee.
Rocky top tennessee, rocky top tennessee.
Yeah rocky top tennesee eee eee eee.
Brad West, you SOB. At least UF shouldn't drop in the polls - oh, and we finally got the lead in the series. So there's that.

Taco's OBP in strike counts is WAY up
For everything except full counts:
Count: OBP 2008/OBP 2009
After 0-2: .239/.327
After 1-2: .209/.306
After 2-2: .259/.277
Full Count: .431/.429
And the BAbip is equally ridiculously up this year:
After 0-2: .292/.398
After 1-2: .218/.394
After 2-2: .268/.360
Full Count: .241/.364
So it does look like this is the big difference maker—because it’s certainly not walks (same number in ‘08 as ’09 right now, in more plate appearances, so he’s walking even less than before).

Last years BABIPs were very low
This years are very high.

So he's somewhere inbetween.
And he needs Youk to train him in plate discipline.
Good work on the data retrieval, lone1c.

And while I'm at it
For Today’s Excellence in Stupidity:
MLB’s video recap of last night’s game
Apparently produced without even looking at the scorecard.

Oh God, what the hell?
Off on Lester’s innings, decision.
Off on the score constantly.
Off on who IS scoring constantly.
Just has no fucking idea, does he? And the whole time he’s trying to appear a bit too…I dunno…showtimey?

I'm still surprised how well Tennessee did.
Compared to the blow outs in years past…

The D is strong (Berry deserves every award he gets)...
And they managed to find some offense. Once they get a QB, they’ll be good.

Is it too much to wish for him to come back next year?
hahaha. NOT happening. They’re saying that he’ll be one of the top 3 taken in the draft.

Re: Clemens
It is sad, pathetic. He needs to quit.
"You know," Girardi said, shrugging his shoulders, "it didn't work."

Why does Clemens' name have an asterik beside it?
Man I love that tuna casserole.

haha thanks,
This made my day. 2am all nighter in the library because of 2 tests in a few hours….
It was a decently entertaining game. Should be a little more interesting next year; hopefully the 6’7 beanpole of a quarterback from Cali (190 lbs) performs better than Crompton.
….and Go Bears! they made me $150 richer this weekend
