In other news: USC falls to Washington, Maryland just lost to Middle Tennessee.

Sigh. They lost to MTSU again.

I’m not too suprised that TENN held tough, but what’s with WASH? Weren’t they really bad last year? I guess they must have had some younger players who wre expected to be better. Not complaining, though- it’s not like I’m a USC fan.

Jacoby's done more for the Sox than most people realize

When we drafted him, that was a major step forward on the path from being a power-reliant team to being able to play some smallball.

I agree that the move towards speed is a good thing.

I just disagree that it’s small ball for Jacoby to turn his singles into doubles with regularity when we tend not to bunt him around and try to sac fly. We’re almost always playing for the big inning.

Agreed.

But a lot of the reason acts can’t fill up as often anymore is because of the diversity available. Everyone has their own genre they’re particularly in to, smaller bands gain more exposure due to the internet, etc. I’ll agree that the quality of music has been…diluted since the 70s, but that doesn’t mean there’s not some great stuff out there still.

Audiences are basically grown from a young age with an ear for specific types of melodies, lyrics that get progressively more vulgar with consistently little substance, and “pop star” faces on them.

Nor are they hurt.

The idea that repressing the idea of them and thinking happy thoughts is the solution is a large part of whatkeeps things from being dealt with. You think there wasn’t violence in “the good old days”? Maybe the lack of readily available firearms with giant magazines was a part of that? A lower divorce rate doesn’t necessarily mean couples are getting along better, it just means they’re not doing the healthy thing in getting out of the relationship.

As for teen pregnancies, there’s plenty of reasons that’s an issue, but if you think teens aren’t going to/didn’t have sex in the—again—“good old days” you’re patently wrong. The destigmatization may just help keep them safe when they’re doing it.

Because the latter’s worth a LOAD. If it’s the former, ask Randy about being an editor or something.

Temporarily throttling new accounts; you’ll only be able to post one FanPost per hour for the time being.

Banning IPs like crazy. Also enjoying pulled pork sammiches, miller light, and the fact that the sox just scored 7 runs in 6 minutes.
