MFY's down 7-2

But actually outhitting the Jays, 11-8.

And in other news:

Rangers down 2-0 (Oakland with runners at 2B and 3B, one out)
Rays down 7-5.

From what I've been reading

jdunderground.com
abovethelaw.com
bigdebtsmalllaw.com

there isn’t a whole lot out that door, at least in the way of jobs.

4LE: does that mean you’re getting a LLM, or something like that?

no LLM for me-- just 4 yrs of law in the evening program

I have friends who did the 4 yr program in 3 or 3.5 years but they hated every minute of it. I think you go stretch it out to 5 years but I went during the summer up until this summer.

I am OK staying where I am for a minute. Since I have been with the company for a long time now I have vaca time I can use to do pro bono stuff. I am just going to play it by ear. I feel bad for a lot of my friends & classmates bc they have no experience or prospects. Some who graduated in the top/law review had offers rescinded or are still looking. Things work out in the long run, sometimes it just isn’t immediate.

I hope things work out in the profession.

With any luck the legal economy will recover a bit. I’m guessing it’s gonna be a while though, as there are plenty of associates who have been laid off. It’s good you have a job to stay with.

I’m thinking about putting off law school, working another year to save more money and give the job market more time to recover.

sounds like a good plan

I do wish ( at times) wish I could have been part of the day program there are always better classes & the ability to participate in clinics but with a mortgage ( an another house I cant sell) it just was not realistic…but UConn’s evening program had nice options. I will look back on my time in law school as an enjoyable one. I laugh at people who say how much they hated it— why bother ? Life is too short & money too tight to spend on something you don’t enjoy. Sounds cornball but education is its own reward, even if Ido not get the 1,000,000 salary ( haaaaaaaaa), I am always amazed at how I analyze things now, my appreciation for the law ( the Constitution) and the realizations of the role of law in so many areas ( like public health).

Any experience you gain will give you a jump on the competition and as you know, it can be super competitive – pathological competition it seems but you don’t strike me as that type (just based on how you write, you COULD be a psycho for all I know :-0)

off topic but I just love, love , love ‘the law’ & my law school experience but I will admit , I got a couple of grades and was like " umm, this MUST be a mistake"… I came to the quick realization that I am not the smartest person in the room—no matter how small the room.
