Theo's Offer For Doc Halladay
Courtesy the Daily Dish, what the Red Sox offered for Roy Halladay.
That's, um, a pretty juicy offer. You have to wonder what JP Riccardi was expecting when he wanted to be "wowed".
EDIT:Whoops. Nevermind.

Um, yeah, but NO.
No way they would have pulled that deal, particularly since that would have meant giving away nearly a third of their bullpen.
Wasn’t gonna happen.
No kidding
And if it did happen, Ricciardi could kiss his job goodbye. Even as good as Halladay is, he’s never going to see an offer like that for him.
Know what?
If the Sox HAD made that offer, Ricciardi STILL woulda turned ’em down. His whole negotiating strategy was that it was always the NEXT offer that was the real deal. He would take the NEXT one. And of course at some point, the offers just stop coming.
He froze under pressure. Could not act, could not pull that trigger. Williams, Ruth, DiMaggio and Sandy Koufax wouldn’t have done it.

As a general rule, I think it would be a bad idea to trade an all-star pitcher for three dead guys and an arthritic pitcher who retired over 40 years ago.
