Bloody Sox Laundry - 9/12/09
The rain actually helped us this time - kinda cool. Anyways, with the rotation getting shifted a little, guess who's getting a shot?
Matsuzaka to start Tuesday - Extra Bases
The rest of the rotation's immediate schedule's in there too.
Rapid fire links now:
Buchholz masters changeup - The Boston Globe
Pedroia good, but not like ’08 - Telegram.com
I'm starting to think there's a reason why this isn't a famous news source.
Players of the Month of August/September: Chris Carter & Jose Alvarez - SoxProspects.com
Josh Reddick’s dad happy to see this day - BostonHerald.com
Parade of crossdressing Red Sox rookies set to begin - Red Sox Monster
ALWAYS weird.
Lots of baseball to played this weekend - feel free to discuss whatever news breaks or any links you want to share or comment on.

Did the rain help us?
I could have sworn I read that when the make-up game starts it’ll be bases loaded with one out.
I mean, I guess if Lester’s arm is fully rested he gets the stress of those 24 pitches back, but still— not the best situation to be in.

Lester starts with a clean slate
You read right, but what you read was wrong.

It's not official because they didn't get through five innings last night.
The only way the runners would be inherited is if the game went five or more innings and the score was tied when play broke off.

I thought it seemed odd
Awesome. Glad to be right about being wrong. Or the other way around.

Good news: Casey Kelly is going to the Arizona Fall League
Bad news: He’s playing SS.
by USG on Sep 12, 2009 3:51 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
why is that bad news?
I take it you figure his real future is as a pitcher? ‘cause it’s not like we’re all that settled at SS…

He's WAY better as a pitcher.
Like, the difference is ridiculous.
It’d be nice if he’d do badly enough in the fall league to quit the whole SS thing altogether. He’s on the verge of AA as a pitcher, but can’t really compete at single-A as a SS.

Kelly
Maybe they want to get him work, but don’t want to overdue the arm, either…

He's already hit his innings limit for the year
And even went over what they wanted because of the futures game.
The longer he struggles as an SS, the easier it becomes to make him into a SP.

is Beckett hurt?
or just sucking?
usually, when the club rushes to say “he is not hurt”
my immediate conclusion is “he is hurt”
but I suppose he might not be

looks fine to me
that’s two strong outings in a row for beckett. feeling comfortable with our 1-2-3 & the pen as well. let’s keep our fingers crossed for dice-k, but i’m not expecting much quite frankly. still we need to see where he’s at.
