GT: Red Sox @ Yankees - Aug. 9
Boston Red Sox at New York Yankees, Aug 9, 2009 8:05 PM EDT
It's do or die time.
I have a good feeling about tonight, though. I've been wearing my No. 7 Trot Nixon shirt all day and I think it's going to work. If the spirit of Trot can't do it, what can?
The Sox look to score a run tonight -- they haven't done that in awhile. Jon Lester will be on the hill to face the Yanks' Andy Pettitte.

Let’s hope Tito put some fire under their asses and we score some runs tonight. I’d be happy with at least 6. Maybe a Lester no-hittter tonight? ish optimistic

Gonna be tough
Since the ASB opposing batters have a .585 OPS against him.

I'm actually a LOT more interested in why there's a discrepency between the Fed's list and the MLBPA's list.
@bs_uf15bosox9be The Original Gameday; Learn to use SB Nation
Umm... huh?
It’s supposed to be the list that was produced by combining the test sample label numbers with a separate list that matched names to the numbers.
@bs_uf15bosox9be The Original Gameday; Learn to use SB Nation
yeah, i think you're right, but
not all 104 names are tests. and some players were tested more than once to get a conclusive result.

something like , the MLB list was seized in connection with an ongoing fed govt investigation but if people are being painted with the same brush, then there needs to be one list or clarification of other existing lists

It won't get released.
MLBPA’s got way too many lawyers.
@bs_uf15bosox9be The Original Gameday; Learn to use SB Nation
Another thing I want to see in that case:

That Tito needs to have an earpiece telling him what to do strategy-wise at all times.

Or get him an iPhone with OTM as the homepage.
How fast would he get banned? :)
@bs_uf15bosox9be The Original Gameday; Learn to use SB Nation
I disagree there.
but with a runner on and no outs, and a quick guy at the plate, and the reigning MVP on deck, a bunt here or there wouldn’t hurt. Especially because Ells could have beat it out.

Everything else kinda sucked. Fuentes was good. A couple guys in Greenville were OK. And then there’s Kalish.

Anybody know whose starting after Penny
Tazawa? Bowden? Byrd?
Tazawa
"Swing and a ground ball, stabbed by Foulke. He has it. He underhands to first. And the Boston Red Sox are the World Champions! For the first time in 86 years, the Red Sox have won baseball's World Championship!"
Tell that to Tito.
Because it’s already been reported.
@bs_uf15bosox9be The Original Gameday; Learn to use SB Nation
I think both him and Bowden
would do well. Even though Tazawa lost in his debut, I really like his stuff. And Bowden looked good in his appearances
Tazawa seems a bit too comfortable throwing in places he shouldn't.
Needs to get that worked out of him by better hitters. Then he’ll be fine.
The good thing about Tazawa
is he goes right after hitters. He’s not the second coming of DiceK
Thankfully that's becoming the trend in Japan now.
Dice-K’s become the poster child for how NOT to make the jump, it would seem.
@bs_uf15bosox9be The Original Gameday; Learn to use SB Nation
There's that.
Which is why I think Tazawa will ultimately be the more effective of the two in the MLB unless Daisuke dramatically changes his approach to baseball in general.
Lots of fun this weekend explaining to extended family what's going on with Dice-K.
That, and explaining that, no, I did not have inside access to what Papi was going to say in the press conference.

When the other team has their 2-3-4-5 hitters up, why not use your best pitcher then?
Then let Bard/Oki take care of 6-7-8-9.
That's why I hate the save
Isn’t Papelbon much more valuable getting out their best hitters regardless of whether it’s the 8th or the 9th?

Except it goes against the “book” and no manager will have balls to defy it. It’s stupid.
