bad move

Why on earth would you pitch to Longoria?

Star-divide

Saito is no Paps. You saw what happened  when we intentionally walked him ealier. Piss poor move by Tito. The pen pitched their hearts out. It really irritates me to see us lose like this especially in August against a division rival on the road. I feel especially bad for Lester. And the offense was horrendous. These next five games could tell all.  I believe the schedule had us listed for having 5 more road games then home games for the second half of the season. Get well soon, Rem Dog.

Wow

your negativity knows no bounds. Tough loss yes, but it was a phenomenal game. Also by leaving Saito in for that inning, Tito saved whatever was left of the bullpen and didn’t completely screw up Buch. Really it was a great game, we did have achance to win it but damn calm down.

There was nothing left of the bullpen

Because for some ungodly reason we still have not called up Bowden or Cabrera to fill in for Masterson.

by Ben Buchanan on Aug 5, 2009 1:13 AM EDT up reply actions

Because we're carrying

Kotchman, who only plays 1B, and 5 OFs. Bay is hurt, but not badly enough to be put on the DL. Reddick is playing. He will likely be sent down when Bay can play, and a pitcher will be called up.

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

I’d rather see Bowden called up to fill in for Penny or Smoltz. Let one of them take Masterson’s role. They’re not getting it done in the rotation.

by RSNexile on Aug 5, 2009 11:03 AM EDT up reply actions

Give Penny a shot tonight.

He’s been good overall, but has stretches of suck, just like he has stretches of dominance.

No WOW...

Great game for the Rays… Wake up JKeough unless of course you are a Rays fan… We had a chance to win the game with the bases loaded and Pedroia at the plate… Don’t wait on a pitch you can hit to the outfield with one out… Let’s drive one to third base we can turn into a double play… These guys are suppose to be professional… Can’t wait to hear your excuse for them..

Jeez

Can’t I appreciate a great game? So now Pedroia sucks too? Oh. Now I get it. 75bandwagon jumps off the bridge, you are the fool who follows behind him.

Exactly.

This was a pretty damn good game, apart from Bard cracking under pressure.

Good one

No, I’m still on the edge contemplating if I should jump or not. A win tonight would definitely back me away though.

Sir, you need to realize that it's JUST a game.

A game that is played millions of times every year (including games outside the MLB). Calm down.

Their excuse is that they are players who on average have a fail rate of greater than 60%. The odds are better that a player will be out than on base and that is just the game. Players don’t make every clutch hit in every single game. They miss on swings, they ground balls out. They don’t do it on purpose or because they are unprofessional, they do it because it’s just the way the game is. 75 really brings out the kooks.

Oh, shit! HEY!!!

I remember you! I hadn’t seen you around here over the last 4 games that we had won. Strange that you pop up now!

The pen pitched their hearts out?

Bard sh*t the bed. He went to pieces after Longoria took him deep. The Sox were lucky they didn’t lose in regulation. Bard got a huge break on the ball he threw down the RF line, and MDC bailed him out. RamRam was also shaky. Oki wasn’t particularly good.

I don’t know what game you were watching. But the one I saw had the pen come in in the 7th with a 2-run lead and a runner on 1st. They couldn’t hold the lead. I guess all that matters is they pitched their little hearts out.

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

What Bull Pen???

Our vaunted bull pen has sucked… Papelbum (no spelling mistake) is getting pounded and needs to come up with a new pitch, everyone is waiting on the fastball… Then the rest of the pen has been horrible, did you not notice how many runs we have given up to teams like Baltimore, KC, not to mention teams that actually have a winning record… Manny D has sucked, Bard is a work in progress, great talent but still learning, do you think Longoria was sitting on that fastball?

Of course don’t get me going on Francoma (again no spelling mistake) he has no clue when to pull a pitcher or leave him in… If he didn’t have the talent he has there would be no World Series Championship, the first one was a miracle down 3 games to the Yanks and down in game 4, then the players pulled it out… No big coaching decisions have won us either Championship… He doesn’t know how to win a game unless it is a blow out…

Ha ha ha...

“Papelbum (this is not a spelling mistake, for you see what I’m saying is that Papelbon is not a good pitcher, but rather a “bum” and this is a play on his name) is getting pounded. It’s too bad Francoma (again, I have spelled his name this way purposefully…as though to say he must be in a coma to not realize when to make the appropriate pitching change) has no clue when to pull a pitcher."

Now, if only it were clear if he spelled “Bull Pen” that way purposefully. Are you claiming that our relief pitchers are bovine?

Well, not so much when you consider the ultimate result.

I think he meant lucky odds wise...

That they kept getting chances. It’s like playing blackjack and betting more and more each time while continuing to push, until you’ve bet it all and lose it because you’ve lost focus.

You know why you pitch to Longoria?

Because behind him is Zorbist and his .974 OPS. You so would come out and complain after the Sox put a few wins together. Also Paps isn’t Paps and so far this year should NOT be used as a measuring stick for the effectiveness of our relievers. Bard right now is the closest thing we have to a “sure thing” in the bullpen and even he wasn’t very effective tonight. Teams lose games, get over it for go root for the MFY.

Sigh

Intentional walk to Longoria and Zobrist to load the bases and create a force at every base, and pitch to Dillon. Whatever the result, the Sox were incredibly lucky they didn’t lose after Bards implosion.
