JOHN SMOLTZ FIXES MECHANICS AFTER LEAVING BOSTON, HOW FITTING!!!
John Smoltz told espn that the reason he pitched so well against the padres in his first start with the cards was that he kept his heal in contact with the rubber, which allowed him to finish his pitches better. He said he realized his heal was losing contact with the rubber in his starts with the red sox after we put him on waivers. WWOOOOOOWWWWW!!!! That pisses me off. With Wake just coming off the DL, Dice K on the "DL", Penny sucking up a storm and Buckholtz a question mark, we really could have used the "REBORN" John Smoltz. As the last fanpost said, I HATE YOU JOHN SMOLTZ!!!!!!

Or....
…he could get absolutely shelled in his next start. He had one impressive/decent start with us, too (the rain delay which we ended up losing). I’m not convinced he’s turned any kind of corner.
He wasn’t working with us. GOTS TA GO.
Man I love that tuna casserole.
Also, he's pitching in the NL now
That’s got to be worth a full run to a run-and-a-half on his ERA.
as others here have said...
It’s just one start against a weak team. Also, if it took all this time for Smoltz to figure out his foot was not against the rubber, what would we have done the day he forgot to put his pants on?

Dave Duncan is a very good pitching coach
He’s rehabilitated the careers of a lot of pitchers.
OTOH, there’s Mark Mulder.
I wouldn’t get too put out by one start against the worst-hitting team in the NL. Smoltz beat the Royals, too.
They guy just went 5 innings
against the worst offense in baseball in the biggest pitcher’s friendly park in the NL.
Lets see how he does against the Dodgers, Rockies, Phillies, Marlins, Cubs and Brewers, teams that have major league rosters, not just Adrian Gonzales.
Wake is back tomorrow and Dice-K is pitching very well and is finally healthy. Our rotation makes a drastic change in Sept.
There would of been no place for Smoltz with Beckett, Lester, Wake, Dice-K and Buchholz/Tazawa.
‘Tipping the pitches’ sounds like a good way to save the face of a proud veteran pitcher.
"no1 has time to read your long comments, are you writing a book?"
I like John Smoltz
