The Red Sox have all the momentum in the world??

Hmmmm. I would say that tonight may be the most critical game of the year for the Sox as far as having/gathering/generating needed momentum at a critical time. If the Sox can win tonight, it may indeed trigger the beginning of a new revival, a new pheonix. If they lose, they will let a big opportunity pass, but maybe justifiably so..

How about Smoltz pulling a Lugo with the Cards?

I guess it does not really signify that much since it was against the Padres in Petco….

You steal on Posada, not Molina. The only thing Molina is good for in baseball in catching, throwing out runners, and getting hits against the Red Sox.

Hm. Depends on what you go for.

It’s more suspenseful than a straight action movies. There’s more dialogue than the trailer might suggest, and a parallel plot that has little to do with the Basterds.

I'm not sure they'll go through with it.

The Yanks probably need Joba for the playoffs.

For most plans, though, they try to keep a player from escalating his innings more than 30 a season. Last season he pitched 100, so this season he’s due for 130. However, he’s already at 126.

after a 1-2-3 inning?

I think one more inning for Beckett.

by RickD on Aug 23, 2009 10:13 PM EDT up reply actions

personally...

I saw why Tito kept him in.

To win tonight’s game, it might have been better to yank Beckett (though I think yanking him in a 2-run game was unwarranted). To finish this season well, Beckett absolutely must pitch well. This isn’t negotiable. Beckett absolutely must pitch better than he has tonight and last Tuesday. If he doesn’t, the season is done.

We use the term "FTW" relatively often here

But since we’re doing more losing than we’d like, I propose a new term- FTL
