Speculation: Buch and Tek Having Issues?
Sandy was the first to bring this up, but does anyone else think that Tek is no longer going to be catching Buch's starts? He hasn't caught the last two, and Buch was shaking Tek off a lot more than most other pitchers.

Today was a day game after a night game.
Last time was an afternoon (4:00) game after a night game.
Tek doesn’t ever catch those.

Well, don't I feel stupid.
Still, could be a possibility. About the same chance as Tek being Buch’s dad.

Well, they both do have large thighs…

Who was the troll last year who swore Tek was using because his thighs are smaller?
MannyHater or something?

And if they are?
Isn’t the pitcher/catcher relationship one of those funny relationships anyway? Many pitchers have issues with their catchers but that doesn’t stop them from working together or prevent success but don’t some pitchers have their ‘own’ catcher?
Randy Johnson is (was?) known for having issues with catchers. McCarver once blabbed on about how Bob Gibson ( I think) pretty much hated him when they were on the field but then MCarver went on to say that Steve Carlton and McCarver were as close as three part harmony.
Not that Buch has established himself like the pitchers I mentioned but things work out or they don’t. Wasn’t Buch’s maturity an issue before?
"You know," Girardi said, shrugging his shoulders, "it didn't work."

Exactly.
But Tek’s known as one of the best game callers in the league, and I’m not sure that a kid should be challenging his wisdom, esp. when Buch is still learning how to work the zone properly. I’ve read pieces about Tek and Lester that makes it seem like they would pass the falling-back trust exercise with no issues.

I reread m post
and the sentence structure sux.
I hear ya - maybe it is Buch’s maturity or ‘tude – maybe a no hitter so early in his career wasn’t the best thing for him.
I agree with you about Tek. often wonder if Schilling regrets shaking off Tek in his near no hitter.
I watched the dvr’d MFY /CWS game & you could see the issues between Posada & Burnett. They couldn’t agree on jack & when Posada came to the mound, it was classic they way Burnett turned away. Burnett might be a head case tho…

I’d still be willing to bet there s something to it.
Sox need another lefty in the pen, not named Lopez
Sox need a utility guy prefer one with speed
Sign Matt Holliday in 2010
Dice-K will return, and he will be very good.

Tek = Buch's father, or that they are having issues?

Issues
Eck made a sarcastic remark about it a few games back. It was a read between the lines comment.

I don't know, but I'm beginning to think Buch is a head case
He’s lights out in AAA but craptacular in the majors? With his talent?
It wouldn’t surprise me at all if he thinks he doesn’t need to listen to Tek, but Tek and Farrell better get him straightened out before he ruins his career. At this point, I definitely would have traded him for Halladay.

I want to see Tek get into a fight with him.

And the price for Halladay was going to be a lot more than Buch.

Of course it was
But whatever it was going to be, it’ll be less in the offseason. If Halladay would agree to an extension, I think it might be worth trading away Buch and a couple of prospects.

Nah, I don't want to be paying him multiple years at $10mil+ when he's older than 35.

Obviously you don't give him Sabathia money
But he’ll be 33 in May. If he’d sign a 3-year extension for less than $50M, he could well be worth it. Look, someone is going to be dumb enough to give Penny $10M/year. Halladay would be worth the extension if he stays healthy.

He'd be 37 by the end of it then...
And you’d be paying him just under $17mil per year – kinda a lot for an old dude with a history of injuries.
