So not the best start for Buchholz, to say the least. But the O has had his back. No coughing up another 7-run lead now, y'hea'?

Another nice one, Fuchholz

Pretty sad when still can’t register a win even though your team gives you 14 runs!

That God for the O’s pitchers, who are even worse.

But I’d like more power out of the Outfield. I don’t think all three will ever be in Boston’s OF.

And of Course we can’t forget Reddick…

I don’t even hate him that much and he was a Nole. Although he did go to my intended high school.

Yankees win.

Meh. We’ll be able to effect our own destiny come next week. Just hope we take a couple from the Rays first and try and knock ’em out of contention for the most part.

Saito will try to finish this.

Starting pitching? Yes.

We’ve got only 2 guys that can be reliably depended upon. That’s not good.

Relief? Eh. They had a lot of outs to get and were stretched more than usual. It’ll happen.

by Ben Buchanan on Aug 2, 2009 5:26 PM EDT up reply actions

agree about the starting pitching

though Wake is supposed to be back soon.

by RickD on Aug 2, 2009 5:28 PM EDT up reply actions

I feel like I'd be more comfortable letting Clay work through things at the ML level if we had competent rest of the staff.

Penny and Smoltz ain’t that. If we had Wake and last year’s Dice-K working their stuff, I wouldn’t feel so bad about one game through the rotation being a struggling young potential ace.

Ode to the game

You suck, Buch! [/sarcasm]

Way to go, O (offense, not the orioles)

Uhh… umm… Bullpen sucked, except for Saito.

Sweetest thing about this game

Having a catcher in the starting lineup who can actually HIT! Viva Victor!

….and winning a game Fuchholz starts (of course it took double digits, but what the heck.)

by ccthemovieman on Aug 2, 2009 5:27 PM EDT reply actions

You realize Tito batted Martinez third

when was the last time Varitek batted third in the lineup, or got five hits in a game?

VMart is a great player and a great pickup.

Ooh, one game for each.

And Tito doesn’t manage using stats nearly enough.

I'm gonna chew you out like Drugs chewed out NG.

We don’t want to hear your bitching. If all you post is negative shit here on OTM, you’re gonna start hearing it from others besides me.

Get a life!

Like with REAL friends and family, not faceless computer geeks who spend hours each day on game threads. Once in awhile, OK – but every day?? Sad.

I will admit to too much negative

but I am far from the only one here on that. For two summers, have promoted young guys like Ellsbury, Lowrie, Pedirioa, Youk, Beckett, Lester, Paps and more year. For my pro—Ells stance, i got was shit from the negative people here – lots of ‘em, of none of them who proved to be right – but nobody with the guts to say so. Ellsury has proved he’s a star who can help us for many years.

From now on I’ll try to be more positive.

For instance, for having no 3-4-5 pitchers, prolong batting slumps by big-name sluggers like Oritz, Drew and Bay, lapses here and there by our closer, etc….we’ve done pretty damn good. If a third starting pitcher steps up, big-time, and our hitters just be who they are we’ll be a tough team to beat in the playoffs, which I have confidence we can make. Whoever we have, we’ll be up there contending and have the most devoted, passionate fans in the game……so lets not be afraid to vent, but remember we are on the same side. We just don’t have the same way of looking at things is all….but we ALL agree on: “Go Sox”

Amen?

by ccthemovieman on Aug 2, 2009 7:25 PM EDT up reply actions

Most of the negativity

comes from the “Stat Crazies” who somehow believe that success in fantasy baseball and total faith in Moneyball translates into understanding sports and baseball.

Some don’t like Ells bc he does not have the OBP that a top lead off hitter has or that he does not take enough pitches, but then simply overlook this young kid’s talent.

I’m with you on the Sox, I cheer for whomever is wearing the uniform. Lugo, Dice-K, V-Mart, and I have faith in Theo and his overall plan.

My only self confessed smudge on my resume is Buchholz, mainly bc of the man crush that keeps people lost in a psuedo drug high and fails to recognize that currently his trade value far out weighs is talent.

V-Mart is an excellent player, a quality person and a team leader who will thrive in the Sox organization as other vets like Jason Bay.
