This afternoon is off to a great start. Which is the way I like it. BTW, I’m not a big tennis fan, I just wanted Roddick to win because 1. He’s American 2. I don’t like Federer for some reason and 3. I wanted my man Rafa to stay ranked #1.

Misplaced pitch.
Pedroia and Youk both screwed up in a big way on that play. Youk has to take the easy out at third, and Petey has to catch that ball.

You have to go for the DP with a slow runner like Johjima. He just made a bad throw.

Anyone think the Sox can pull a deal for Escobar?
I am reading trade rumors that Braves are shopping SS Escobar – both teams need a big bat – so it would be tough to make happen but any thoughts on how?

What are Lowrie’s stats this year? How productive has he been? You can’t get much done on the disabled list. Lowrie is nowhere near the SS of Escobar. I am not saying it will happen – just asking how…
Escobar is crap in the field.
If we want a guy to do what he’d do, well hell, just keep Nick Green out there.
I read he is very good in the field
USG I read he makes big plays but once in awhile leaves in head in his ass making an error – he is young
I do not know all his stats – just started reading about him today. Drugs and others say Lowrie is the future – many scouts say makes a better utility guy – I think in all fairness we just have not seen enough of him to make a bold proclamation of he is the future the FO woulg upgrade given the opportunity not saying it is Escobar but asking WHAT WOULD IT TAKE TO MAKE THE TRAGE?
There is a zero percent chance of the Sox trading for a SS
Theo will hold onto his prospects. I’m not worried about Lowrie’s stats so far this year. He has been injured. His minor league numbers were very good, and the FO is high on him. So why would they trade assets that they want, or can be used to strengthen another position? Lowrie is the Sox’ SS going forward. The Sox’ FO is as worried about 2010 as they are about this year. The Sox will only look for a SS if they believe Lowrie won’t recover from his injury.

A little late on this but...
J.D. can’t try to do a sliding catch for that ball not with no one backing him up hes gotta get in front of it and try to catch it get the behind the ball even if he won’t be able to catch it… to risky to try a sliding catch which was the case.

And explain that despite how much we love our 2B, we’d happily trade his start at the ASG out for several things:
1. With respect to Ian Kinsler’s season, he should be starting and not a f’n final vote candidate.
2. With respect to Mark Teixeira, f’ Mark Teixeira. Stay home. Youk starts.
3. With respect to Paps, just no. Stay home and work on your f’n mechanics.

Actually, while he was bad in '08, it was one of his better defensive seasons
Young was a -5.8 UZR (-5.4 UZR150) at SS last year. In 2007, he had a UZR of -13.1 (-12.9 UZR150). He sucked in 2004 and 2005: -24.4 UZR (-22.8 UZR150) in 2004 and -26.9 UZR (-24.3 UZR150) in 2005.

How does the "long reliever" thing fit in?
Since Masterson is one of the few members of the bullpen that can actually go multiple innings on a regular basis. . . .
It fits in that
Most times a team needs a LR, they’re probably already down by several anyway.
Not to say it’s unimportant, but not as important as having consistently good work at the end of close games.

Masterson is the most expendable of Bard/Buch/Bowden I think, but he’s the one I’d want to keep of the 4.

I am not the SME on the CAPS but they are impressive
I moved here in FEB 09 from STL. IMO, they need to be built for the post season more – Pittsburg has their number – I think they need a little more offense is that correct? I will say this I love hockey and that is a rocking Cap Center to watch games too bad the NATS can have the same fan base BTW, I was in Baltimore yesterday visiting the inlaws all of themmmm

They signed right wing Mike Knuble to a two-year deal to take the place of Viktor Kozlov, giving the Caps a few things that will help the offense. He’s big (6-foot-3, 230), can score (at least 21 goals in each of the last six years), he should help
