Tito Does It Again
He left Wake in too long.....AGAIN!!!!!
We are losing some really stupid games right now. And all of you guys out there can quote me all kinds of stats about how much better we are than other teams and how many series we've won over the last couple of months, but that really doesn't matter when you're only up by 2 games with the Yankees gaining on us. Let's be serious.....Our offense pretty much stinks right now and we are still yet to put together a firm batting order. Once again, I'm sure their are smat guys out there can give me stats about how good we are, but it doesn't mean anything when you blow games the way we've been doing lately. Here's a stat I'd like someone to follow ( I wish I've been following it); how many base runners have we let on with 2 strikes? (base hits and full count walks) And how many runs are we giving up with 2 outs in an inning? I'm out here vetting because I'm tired of seeing us lose games that we should be winning.

Your stat questions:
baseballreference.com is awesome:
With 2 strikes opposing players are currently hitting .192/.261/.282. That is really good. However, while our pitchers have been doing great in 0-2, 1-2 and 2-2 counts (OPS of .389, .371 and .495 respectively), they have been terrible when facing full counts (OPS of .923). This is probably what you are noticing and why you are getting frustrated.
With two outs in an inning, we have given up 125 runs for an OPS of .703 (that is lower than the OPS we give up with 0 or 1 run). So our pitchers have been better good in 2 out situations.

I know how you feel with the stat justifcation thingy.
Sometimes you have to just go by the gut and personal observation to make a decision, IMO.
I will say that when it comes to Wakefield, I do not think length in the game means anything. He can go bad anytime and come back again strong anytime. That is one of the things I dislike about him and knuckleballers in general is that you cannot count on them. In a big game, they should not play or they should be yanked as soon as 2 people hit hard in an inning or 2 people are walked in an inning. Something like that!

You can't do that, NG
You’d have to have pitchers warming every inning, a great way to blow out your bullpen.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

Okay, so then they (knuckleballers)
should not play in BIG GAMES. Fine.

I hear...
Tito also caused the national deficit and AIDS. Let’s run him out of town!
Quit your complaining and post actual solutions instead of your typical rant. Your last 5 (of 6) posts have been titled: Tito Does It Again, WTF?, Pitching?, REALITY CHECK and LUGO AND OTHER THINGS. Not a single of these has been a positive post or comment. Certainly the most negative person I have seen on this board that doesn’t quite fit under the title of troll. You post and complain and on only two instances you have ever replied to comments on your posts. Make a post titles Great Game! and list all the things they did well for a change.
What would you do to the line up? How would you better manage our bullpen? You’re way too fast to put all the blame on one person. Tito can’t make the guys swing their bats and keep the offense going. The lineup hasn’t been set because guys like Lowell have been getting hurt and we have some guys that need days off. Of any pitcher on this team I think it is best to let Wake go extra innings beyond when you would normally pull a starter. He may get lit up in an inning but he comes back the next and strikes out the side, it’s the nature of the pitch, plus there have been a couple of extra innings games recently and the bullpen could certainly use a rest. He gave up 4 runs through the 4th and then one more 4 INNINGS LATER in the 8th while we were still down.
The sky is falling, back under your rock. See you next loss.

I knew what the “meat” of this thread was going to be before I even opened. it. Rogue’s definitely right; the criticism isn’t even constructive, and you only post after a loss.
Yes we should be winning a little more, but only the MFY believe they can go 162-0.
-We’re 1st in our division right before the A.S. break
-Our road win % is over 50%
-We’ve won 8 out of our last 10 series (the only too losses coming to the Rangers at the beginning of June & now the M’s),
- We’re done with our West Coast trips
- The MFY, the Rays & the Jays have not even started their West Coast trips
I’m pretty happy with our results so far & our outlook; but as everyone knows there’s always room for improvement :)

You're right
I couldn’t agree with you more. I’m the rogue fan (and die hard all the way) that gets pissed off when we blow stupid games. That’s just how I am. And here I am posting after the next loss. Another stupid loss. He left Saito in too long this time. Seriously though; I wonder if we’re starting to see some chinks in the armor. I really hope our pen isn’t starting to get taxed. Our big guys are all in slumps, but that will correct itself. We need to stop platooning at shorstop too. Go with one or the other.

The manager isn't responsible for player slumps
And, we aren’t platooning at SS. Green is the starter. He has started all but 7 games at SS since June 1st. That doesn’t mean Lugo never plays. You are aware that the starters rest occasionally—right? The vast majority of Lugo’s starts have come against left-handed starters. He is hitting .400 AVG/.471 OBP/.533 SLG against lefties this year. Hmm, maybe Tito knows what he is doing.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

Make up your mind. You’re now afraid of the bullpen getting taxed but you complain constantly about starters being left in too long. You can’t have your cake and eat it too.

Yes.
Clearly the solution is to go 82-0 the rest of the way. Make it happen Theo/Tito/Henry/Warner/Lucchino!
