Game 96: "Yar, matey! I see offense!"
Orioles vs Red Sox recap
Orioles vs Red Sox boxscore
Seven runs on 10 hits is a pretty good offensive day. I'll take it.
The Sox's offense finally clicked with a 7-2 victory over the O's Saturday night. The bulk of the offense came from a 3-run home run from David Ortiz in the first inning and the new guy, Adam LaRoche, hitting a two-run shot in the 8th. Jacoby Ellsbury also had a pair of RBI doubles.
Jon Lester had a pretty solid night on the mound. He worked into the 8th inning (7.1 IP) and gave up eight hits, two runs, two walks and struck out nine. Daniel Bard (.2 IP) and Ramon Ramirez (1IP, 2H, 1K) worked scoreless relief.
That's two in a row. Today the Sox look for the series sweep with John Smoltz on the mound. Also, Jim Rice's number will be retired today. That'll be a great sight to see.
Go Sox!
