As good and deep as the Red Sox pitching is right now, their offense is taking on water. They are third in the AL East in runs scored and OPS, behind the Yankees and Rays. More disturbing, the Red Sox’s team OPS has gone down every month this season. Their on-base percentage out of the leadoff spot is an abymal .309, which, coupled with .309 out of the ninth spot, kills them in front of Dustin Pedroia and Kevin Youkilis. The fact that Jason Bay is hitting .214 since the start of June hasn’t helped, not with the added pressure his agent has incurred by asking for a Teixeira-like deal.

I was there spring of '08
It was mainly to see the Sox in Spring training (we went to the last game before the Japan trip), but we also saw some tourist attractions and family. I’d never been there before, and it’s one of my all-time favorite road trips.

This isn't really Red Sox related,
but what do the Nats gain if they sign Strasburg now? I understand that it would excite fans, but if they don’t sign him, they’ll have the top 2 picks next year and can draft him again. And it also gives them another year to evaluate if Strasburg is really “all that”.

But it’s also important to prevent them. Last year, Texas led the AL in runs scored by a wide margin and they still finished under .500.

I think we found our SS.
I vote for Nick Green to start at ss because he seems great defensively and decent if not great offensively. So nice after Lugo and other problems at that position.
Now let us do the same for catcher and soon and especially from a defensive standpoint.

If you mean his arm, then yes, I would like to improve on that with the next catcher we play consistently.
On the other hand, I’m happy with Lowrie being the starting SS and Green being a bench guy.

I think a catcher that encourages, no almost guarantees that
every single will likely be a double, might be just a bit of a defensive liability.
