We Are Definitely In Trouble
This team is playng with no heart and no fire
A championship caliber team does not come out of the all star break losing 5 of its first 6 games. Tonight really spelled it out for me in a lot of ways. They don't seem to be playing with any sense of urgency. I know it ended up being a moot point because we got out of the inning, but where was Tito and Tek when Kinsler clearly interfered on the call third strike and allowed the runner on first to steal second in the 6th inning? These guys are getting paid a lot of money to make baseball their number one priority for 6 months and no argument was made on a clear interference call that would have ended the inning. Tonight was simply a team that is looking old and tired. And why wasn't there a pinch runner for Tek after he led off the 7th with a single? When your offense is terrible you need to produce runs, i'e steal a base and/or hit and run. The upcoming 13 game road trip is looking really scary especially when your are traveling from the west coast and then the final 6 games are against TB and NY. This is definitely not looking good. Kudos to the bull pen though. They were the ONLY bright spot in this otherwise horrendous performance. Get well soon, Rem Dog.

What a surprise - we lose, you post.

Question:
How is Arlington, TX the “west coast”?
EVERYONE CALM DOWN – We’re the 3rd best team in the MLB. We have a REALLY good chance of making the playoffs. SO CALM DOWN.

If we win our next 2, do we win the world series?
And ooh, ooh, even better:
It’s a 9 game road trip against 3 AL East teams. We’re not going to the West Coast.
I think we was saying we're going to play after coming back from Texas...
Not the West Coast, but the AL West, so maybe he’s just geographically challenged.
@bs_uf15bosox9be:OverTheMonster-ALLERGEN WARNING:May contain PB.
Naw, he thought the Oakland games were @Oakland.
9 games (the real trip) + 4 west coast games = 13 games.
It’s a perfect fit.

whatever
Look at the schedule. We have a 4 game series in Oakland starting on the 27th before we go to Baltimore, TB, and NY.

and no we don't
that’s what theyre saying above.
Those are at Fenway: http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/schedule/index.jsp?c_id=bos
Fact check please.
Unless I need to change my travel plans soon, that ticket for the 27th of July with JASON VARITEK surrounded by a Red Sox border featuring their chamionship and pennant years would suggest that, no, we don’t.

Oy vey!
At least NG is holding back for a week or two.

@bs_uf15bosox9be:OverTheMonster-ALLERGEN WARNING:May contain PB.
I really like this guy
He should be the lead broadcaster for the Red Sox.
Once again, more informed.
Would be fun for a while.
We could judge the Sox’ chances based on his hat choice. :)
@bs_uf15bosox9be:OverTheMonster-ALLERGEN WARNING:May contain PB.
I predict we win 6 out of our next 7
Maybe 7 out of 7.
Baltimore and Oakland are terrible teams. We get back to Fenway and the bats will magically come alive.
In fact
We have 11 straight against BAL-OAK-BAL Sounds like a solid way to bust off an 11 game winning streak.
Once again, more informed.
You really do love to find something to complain about don’t you? Your life isn’t complete without a complaint. Tek and Tito didn’t get uppity and chucked because of a bad call? You’re digging that deep. Seriously. Follow NG’s path and dissappear for a week or two.
I was really expecting to click on this post and see “OMG TITO LEFT BUCHHOLZ IN WAY TOO LONG! SERIOUSLY AFTER THE FIRST PITCH WE COULD TELL HE WASN’T OUT TO PLAY TONIGHT! WE SHOULD TRADE HIM TO TORONTO FOR HALLADAY! AND THEN TRADE HIM AGAIN TO GET LINCECUM SOMEHOW!!! THEN WE CAN GET PUJOLS! THEN I’LL FINALLY FEEL GOOD ABOUT THIS TEAM.”
You’re either a star wars fanboy (like myself) or were cast for the movie. “I’ve got a bad feeling about this.”
Don’t say they have no heart. Are you saying Youk, MVP and them don’t have heart? Boston players have more heart than nearly any other team in the league. THEY’RE SLUMPING. It happens. Check Ortiz. He had no pulse for the first third of the season and now he is leading our “offense.” They’ll come out of it, just part of the game you have to sit and wait through. Honestly I’m glad they’re going through this now so we won’t have to deal with slumping players in late August and September when we need to be sharp.
We’re just over half way through the season, one in which we have spent the vast majority of in first place in the best division in the best league.

When the Sox lose, I get as pissed as everybody else, but “they are playing with no heart and urgency” makes no sense. I hate this kind of simplistic platitude. Because we lose a bunch in a row, the team has no heart? You really think they aren’t trying? Hits just aren’t falling and its more frustrating for them than it is for you, 75 bandwagon. Whether this team has heart or not I do not know; but I know we have talent. And the last time I checked, that is what matters.

Plus, what exactly do these people require from a player to say he has heart?
Hix keeps saying JD has no heart, but I think he’s confusing that with professionalism. He keeps a cool head even when he’s struggling, and that probably will help him break this slump.
@bs_uf15bosox9be:OverTheMonster-ALLERGEN WARNING:May contain PB.
I assumed he meant JD was some kind of Baseball Zombie
If he meant something else then I feel like I really have egg on my face for already getting my “Monster Squad Patented Zombie Killing Kit” out of the attic.

Zombies are fun
I think some people just don’t Drew’s personality that they see on the screen. Not that they have evet met him or spoken with him, they just take what the media tells them and accept it. Fact is he is an above average player. Not great, which is what I suspect pisses people off. Damn you J.D. for not being Pujols!!!

Whatever.
This guy is hoping the Sox lose so he can say I told you so. Go watch cricket.
A championship caliber team does not come out of the all star break losing 5 of its first 6 games.
I guess we’ll find out. However, the 2007 Red Sox lost 5 of 8 after the Break and were swept by Detoit in the three games before the ASB. Do championship caliber teams lose 8 of 11 right around the Break?
Last year, the Sox lost 5 of 6 to the MFY and Angels just before the Dealine and still came within 1 game of going to the WS.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.
Indeed
I agree completely. I like 75Bandwagon and NG. The have a very time-tested strategy for life-first when things look bad-post about it, since it makes you feel better. Then you can also say “I told you so-” as if we all don’t see that the team is struggling. Since winning a championship is hard to do (if I recall correctly only one team every year does it) they will be correct more often than not, and then they can feel like smart guys who somehow saw it all coming…

So, we're simplifying NG and 75bandwagon down to this.
“I’m almost guaranteed to look smart if I go with 29:1 odds!!”
@bs_uf15bosox9be:OverTheMonster-ALLERGEN WARNING:May contain PB.
I.
think those are close to 1:14 odds cosidering there are 16 teams or so who really do not have a chance. I’m just saying. EX: Pittsburgh
Once again, more informed.
But Pittsburgh won yesterday!!!
They are obviously going to the World Series!!!
@bs_uf15bosox9be:OverTheMonster-ALLERGEN WARNING:May contain PB.
Ah no.
Unless of course they go on a 45 Game winning streak. Which is not happenning. The Mets however with the acquisition of the greastet SS of all time will never lose another game. Ever. For the next 43 seasons. Fact.
Once again, more informed.

Oh it is rough
But you hear Tito say his time to 2nd is great all the time. Is it just a Sox philosophy to let themselves get abused on the basepaths?
Once again, more informed.
Buch has to blame for a lot of the steals last night.
Very slow and deliberate delivery. Tek doesn’t have a great arm, but he gets enough.
@bs_uf15bosox9be:OverTheMonster-ALLERGEN WARNING:May contain PB.
That's what I thought
but sometimes with Beckett he looks bad too. Just the delivery?
Once again, more informed.
Sometimes it's on Tek...
But some players have very slow deliveries (Buch, Penny, Beck at times), and you can see Tek getting the ball there very quickly, just missing because of the delay.
@bs_uf15bosox9be:OverTheMonster-ALLERGEN WARNING:May contain PB.
It just
seems to me that we give up second base a lot. Although I rarely see us give up third.
Once again, more informed.
Unless it's a double steal!!!
Always fun.
@bs_uf15bosox9be:OverTheMonster-ALLERGEN WARNING:May contain PB.
I think more teams should do it.
I love stealing third, especially with a RH hitter up
Once again, more informed.
Here's something to note
The Chisox’ Mark Buehrle just threw a perfect game against the Rays. Now Tampa and Boston have the same record in July: 8-9. While we’re all familiar with the Sox’ offensive struggles, Tampa’s offense has been worse this month. Boston has averaged only 4.29 runs per game in July. The Rays have averaged a woeful 3.47 runs per game.
What should we make of this? Perhaps all teams struggle from time-to-time.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.
Clearly the Rays aren’t a championship caliber team and are poorly managed. They obviously don’t have what it takes if they can’t win games in July!! Insert whiny comment about bad pitching when offense is clearly the problem
"We are not normal, We are Legends. People will tell their kids about us." - Deon Butler before Ohio State Game 2008.
Even considering the Rays' offensive issues, that's a REALLY good team to throw a perfect game against.
A large majority of their players are great hitters.
@bs_uf15bosox9be:OverTheMonster-ALLERGEN WARNING:May contain PB.
Doesn't that just mean...
…that we’ll be fighting with the Rays amongst the spiky-chained sodomy-demons at the bottom of the fiery hell-gorge through which both teams will plummet if they lose one more game between now and the end of time? Because, I don’t wanna fight Gabe Kapler, and I’m afraid to be the devil’s bitch. I hear he looks like Hank Steinbrenner…
Sabremetrically, the Red Sox %PHG (chance of plummeting into a hell-gorge) is nearing 100, and our FWGSR (fair-weather fan suicide rate) has never been higher. We must sign Roy Halladay/Cliff Lee/Justin Douchebagger at all costs… ALL COSTS!!!
Or, perhaps, all teams struggle from time-to-time.

I think if you
Look up the definition of ‘not in trouble’ then Boston would be one of the Franchise with a picture there.
Seriously be more over reacting.
