The Julio Lugo Era is Over
Rob Bradford od WEEI is reporting that the Sox have DFA'd Julio Lugo.
According to a source familiar with the situation, the Red Sox have designated Julio Lugo for assignment. The Red Sox will have 10 days to assign Lugo's contract to another major or minor league club, whether it be via trade or through waivers.
This means that both Lowell and Buchholz will be in the line-up tonight. Jed Lowrie will likely take Buchholz's spot tomorrow.

Now, Can we DFA Chace, Soxdevil and ltrain2? So we could have evreything rolling in the Nation?
"It's designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything is new again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops, and leaves you to face the fall alone". A. Bartlett Giamatti
Umm, no.
Just because they haven’t contributed a huge amount recently doesn’t mean you just DFA them. Randy’s all old-school manager, and Soxdevil and Allen are veterans. We need their leadership and veteran presence, not to mention all the intangibles. ltrain2 is a rookie with a lot of promise, so we need to stay the course with him.
"It's just a tiny little nick, but it hurts when I get champagne in there."

Question:
Where the hell did ltrain2 go? He had two great posts, then… nothing.

ltrain2 was clearly trying to write like a newspaper sportswriter. Not my favorite style.

What is your favorite style?

Generally, I like people who write in a more personal way; people who have their own style. For sportswriters, Joe Posnanski is great. I also like writing that has very little “flourishes”; by that, I mean people who simply say it like it is, in as few words as possible, and move on. Many sportswriters seem to think an article is more interesting if they use a mildly clever pseudonym for the player as opposed to their real name. Examples: “the bulky lefty”, “the California native”, “the aging veteran”. Rarely to these things add to the article other than to avoid repetition. Its the reason I can barely read the Sports pages anymore.
ltrain2 seemed like a very good writer, don’t get me wrong. But sometimes it seemed as though he didn’t know his audience. Just a quick look at one article, he refers to ’Tek as “catcher Jason Varitek.” We all know who Jason Varitek is, no reason to inform us that he plays catcher. But in an AP recap of the game, that would obviously be necessary.
Much of the writing around here is clearly aimed at a fairly small community of regulars who discuss the Sox with each other constantly. I guess I never got that feeling from ltrain’s writing.
Read Joe Posnanski’s blog. It feels like you and him are having beers together and he’s just telling stories. That is the stuff I like to read, especially on the internet.

OK good-
now time to move on. NG will no longer have his favorite outlet.
There's still Tek and Wakefield
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

Not to worry.
Both these problems will go away naturally as both will likely succumb to old age sooner than later.

Neither has been a problem so far this year.

Lugo was my favorite player, so I'm sad.

Sarcasm?
I can see people liking him – he was an easy scapegoat. I mean, who do we have to blame bad luck on now?

Indeed,
I am a fair-weather fan. When the Sox win, I am happy watching and content and satisfied to just bask quietly in that nice feeling. HOWEVER, when a Sox team, that is suppose to be good and is suppose to win, loses often, I get angry and need to vent. This forum is where is am currently venting when needed because this is suppose to be a god team. An aside, when the Sox are suppose to be lousy, I don’t spend the money to watch them and am quiet then as well.
There you have it, the long time evolutionary confessions of a fair weather only Red Sox fan. Blame the long, ugly and boring Yawkey era!
We might seriously need venting threads.

Yup, venting is a good thing.
Get that anger out of there so it does not eat away your insides.

Spoken with a German accent:
VENTING WEDNESDAYS!!!

Lugo is going to sign with the Mets!
He’s working out at the Mets facility in the Dominican Republic and they’re going to sign him as soon as he clears waivers, according the the NY Daily News.
Wow Omar Minaya...
Do you think this move will get Minaya into the Hall of Fame? Lugo clearlys add to a potential playoff run for this particular Mets team. Here’s hoping Lugo gets to start everyday. Lucky bastards in the front row behind the home dugout, they are going to get so many personalized Lugo keepsakes. I’m very jealous.
Once again, more informed.
Knowing Minaya
He’ll extend Lugo for 3 years/$30 million on top of his Sox contract.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

First Cora, now Lugo...
What is it with the Mets and Sox’ crappy infielders?
Well, I'll appreciate for you to keep my zingers outta your mouth!
