Thankfully, the Sox have a day off tomorrow

So, if Dice-K doesn’t have it, it’s an empty the bullpen day.

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

What’s the reason everyone here didn’t want Michael Young as our SS again? Was it the contract?

DO NOT BRING JACK WILSON OR NICK JOHNSON TO BOSTON !!!

Young can't play SS

He’s awful defensively.

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

his lifetime defensive numbers are not that bad?

Bad D? The Guy won the Gold Glove at Short last year

200 hits every year (except last year when he has 2 broken fingers) yeah he sucks!!!!!

Larry Parrish Was Da Man!

by TRFAN on Jun 8, 2009 1:44 AM EDT up reply actions

Yeah

the GG means so much because sports writers understand baseball…not. Young is a horrible SS, a career big minus in UZR/150. That is why he was moved to make room for someone who can actually field. And what do his 200 hit have to do with his fielding ability (or lack thereof)?

by Buzzy on Jun 8, 2009 8:48 AM EDT up reply actions

Other "Gold Glovers"

Derek Jeter, Bobby Abreu, Raul Mondesi, David Wright, and Edgar Renteria.

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

Bad defense.

Also, we’d have to trade for him. Young is not worth Buchholz, and I don’t think he’s even worth Bowden.

Dice blows

he is going to get smacked around if he keeps tossing that flat 92 mph crap right down the middle of the plate, 5 Ks or not…

by Buzzy on Jun 7, 2009 2:02 PM EDT reply actions

I hate watching him pitch

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

by Drugs Delaney on Jun 7, 2009 2:04 PM EDT up reply actions

I keep thinking that

he’s too good to keep pitching like this. That one day he’ll figure it out and start dominating MLB hitters. His stuff is really good, and I see no reason why he can’t be as good as Beckett or Lester.

He is, at best, slightly above average.

Late to the ball and a bad throw. A good LF nails Murphy at the plate.

Hey, I've got an idea

How about I try to steal a bag after the batter nearly goes deep? How about I try to steal against the best defensive catcher in Texas? How about I risk making the final out of the inning?

Dice-K blows

He is the worst starter on the team right now.

Ellsbury misplaying ball in CF doesn’t help either.

Scary but Dice K’s trade value is less than Penny’s at his point.

How’s DiceK been, apart from the three scoring plays?

by bdalebs on Jun 7, 2009 2:53 PM EDT reply actions

He has lots of Ks

He’s run tons of deep counts (what’s new), and Texas has smoked some balls. Typical Dice-K—nothing special.

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

by Drugs Delaney on Jun 7, 2009 2:55 PM EDT up reply actions

He just had a 1,2,3 forth, with an AMAZING catch by Ells

Not quite sure – would have to check Kotsay’s splits.

yet it showed up on the map as right to Ells – WTF?

Dammit, DiceK.

So close to a quick inning – SO close.

by bdalebs on Jun 7, 2009 3:15 PM EDT reply actions

That wild pitch cost him. I think if Ells plays Cruz’s hit off the wall better, he only gets a double and not the triple, so the wild pitch only moves the player over to third.

by ruktuim on Jun 7, 2009 3:17 PM EDT up reply actions

Dice-K with another WP

Right now, he’s the 6th best picther on the Sox (Masterson is better as a starter). If Smoltz and Buchholz can pitch well, Dice will be the 8th best picther on the team.

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

by Drugs Delaney on Jun 7, 2009 3:17 PM EDT reply actions

Dice-K

Even if Dice-K isn’t the starter we thought we were getting when we made the investment.

I think the Dice-K deal, really gave the Red Sox’s a major presence in Japan. Opening up a major market for us to go after future talent.

by ruktuim on Jun 7, 2009 3:29 PM EDT up reply actions

Yep.

But they’ll turn on us if he do anything disrespectful to their idol.

Red Soxs In Japan

Also, I think the Junichi Tazawa deal some what hurt our standings in Japan.

From my understanding it was an unwritten rule to target Japanese players before they are drafted to the NPB. I think our picking Tazawa up straight out of the industrial league upset a lot of teams.

He hasn't been good to start the year.

But he is returning from injury and should be cut some slack. This is only his 6th game, and he was good the past two years. It’s too early to give up on him.

He's been decent in the past

His numbers last year were somewhat deceiving. He was very lucky, and he puts a lot of strain on the pen.

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

Yes.

But keep it secret from Japan, so that we don’t piss them off.

3-1 Rays up, in the bottom of the 6th

I guess if the Rays win we stay in 1st.

But they’re creeping awfully close. We’ve got 4 teams legitimately in the race.

Someone should have taken him.

He has really good stuff. I guess the salary was too high.

Good to know our centerfielder right now is the loser of rocks, paper, scissors

Hopefully Ellsbury is alright before they decide the Yankees series with Ink a Dink

by BigRedDog42 on Jun 7, 2009 3:29 PM EDT reply actions

Ha.

It’d be nice if Ells could develop so that we wouldn’t need kid’s games to decide roster moves.

This is just a laughable game.

How many baserunners are the Sox gonna piss away?

Really? WTF?

Is an intern calling the baserunning?

by bdalebs on Jun 7, 2009 3:41 PM EDT reply actions

I'm proposing a new rule for the Sox

Any player whose baserunning error ends an inning pays a million dollar fine.

Any game with multiple such errors results in double fines.
