Time for a showdown.
Two of the best teams in the American League face off tonight at 7 p.m. in Fenway Park. The Rangers (31-22) are in town for a three game series.

This is the game than concerns me the most in this serie
Penny is a fly ball pitcher and those rangers can mash, it’s not a perfect matchup! But their pitching is horrible, so let’s hope for the best

Let’s hope the Sox’s bats can get going against the Rangers’ pitchers. Millwood has been pretty good this season, though.

Milwood is more of a four-seam FB pitcher (gets a lot of GO though)

When we've seen Penny's offspeed stuff working, it's been top-notch stuff.
The problem is that when he doesn’t have it, it’s really obvious.
Dustin Pedroia is a freak
The guy just does not strike out. It’s amazing to watch. He will foul off, and foul off and foul off and…
It does take him a while to walk/hit sometimes, though.
Which kills the pitch count, of course. I wouldn’t be surprised if some pitchers got pissed at him lunging across the strike zone and fouling off ball 4 time-and-time-again on a 3-2 counr.

I think Penny’s likely to have the better stuff, and if he can pitch as he has these first few innings, he might stick with the team.
