GameThread: Red Sox @ Braves - June 26

New series for the Sox: those darn Braves again. The Sox's so-called "natural rivals." Here's what the series looks like:

What would Russell Branyan cost? With Lowell hurting, might be worth lookin into.
DO NOT BRING JACK WILSON OR NICK JOHNSON TO BOSTON !!!

The M's are only 2.5 out in the west.
They’re not giving up Branyan.

I would still DFA or trade Papi
However, it is great he is hitting again, and he seems to show flashes of his Hall of Fame self…

DFA? Wut?
1.108 OPS in June not enough for you?

Yup...
After his April and May slumps.. sentimentality is not a good way to make roster decisions.
Look, I think it is great that Papi is getting out of his slump, and he was the deadliest hitters in the AL, but I still think they should DFA him. I am heartless bastard..
I am expecting him to get better, but he is still having problem with off speed pitches.

Tell that to the changeup he killed a couple games ago.
Anyways, it ceases to be sentimentality when he’s performing at a pace better than most players in the league right now. If he falls back to the depths he started the year in, then maybe he’s really done after all. But to DFA him when he’s back to hitting like usual is ridiculous.

That was the pitcher's fault
He thought he could make Papi swing early, but Papi picked up the change up..
Of course my argument is ridiculous, but I am sort of looking this through a risk management paradigm. Besides, What better way to get people to post than to say, “DFA Papi”..
Look, I am still very concern about his mechanics, but he seems to be connecting and not cheating as much as he did earlier in the season..

sentimentality?
the guy is hitting very well.
Seeing that the Sox are going to be paying him anyway, and he’s htiting the ball well, what’s so wrong with letting things be?

As they put it in a Monty Python Sketch
“There is no sympathy in Big Business”
I am just looking at this through a Risk Management perspective…
Perhaps I am still kind of testy that the Sox DFA Javy Lopez, (okay, okay, he should had been DFA)… but if it was anyone besides Papi, he would candy assed on Yawkey Way…

What's the risk?
You’re on the hook for his salary. He’s killing the ball all of a sudden. Our best replacement is Rocco every-other-day and then we lose a valuable utility player.

3-0
Desite these posts being consecutive, they’re about 3 innings apart. =(
Oh, Fridays.

Oh... they shouldn't have taken out Beckett... :(
Well, I'll appreciate for you to keep my zingers outta your mouth!

98 pitches.
Not a bad time to give him the night off.
Though PH Lugo for a sac bunt is kinda hilarious. Becks must’ve wanted to swing for the fences.

Yeah. I was thinking that.
Lugo acting on his own…?

An Oki performance...
Having two batters with called third strikes is not something you don’t see this side of Lincecum. Garrett Anderson isn’t a person to not to get a called third strike..

he isn't a person to not to get a called third strike
I can’’t even parse that.
