Easily the coolest play in the history of baseball
Goin Matrix on the ball and what not.
I didn't like the old one very much. I didn't see the ball there very well. - Julio Lugo on the old Yankees Stadium.
Oh, yeah, you kinda ruined the Transformers movie for me, man.
Nevermind that I haven’t seen the first one, but you ruined the plot for me, man!
OverTheMonster - ALLERGEN WARNING: May contain peanut butter.
Uh-uh, I posted it as a FanShot too so that I get my credit.
Where exactly are you going to post it?
OverTheMonster - ALLERGEN WARNING: May contain peanut butter.
Let's wrap up the series now.
Good pitching matchup for us. Their bullpen is shot, and no good to begin with, etc.
Or we could go down on 7 f'ing pitches.

My bad, 8.
I forgot Petey fouled one off. >_<

All of them were strikes, one way or the other.
See what happens when everyone brings up the top-5-batters-saw-almost-as-many-pitches-as-the-entire-MFY-lineup stat?
OverTheMonster - ALLERGEN WARNING: May contain peanut butter.
Mr. Gammons did:
Icon_lockThe five players who batted in the first four spots in the Red Sox batting order saw 106 pitches. The new ESPN box scores are unbelievable

Ignore the "Icon_lock" thing.
Just means that he’s got his tweets protected.

Let's go Sox
The large father is due for some XBHs tonight!
The only Red Sox fan in a country where nobody cares about basball!
There it is again.
3 outside-borderline pitches for Stammen called strikes, 1 for Lester called a ball.

The stat?
Or something that would be ridiculous to bring up with 7.2 IP to go?
OverTheMonster - ALLERGEN WARNING: May contain peanut butter.
"[Nick Johnson] and Adam Dunn are the only guys in the Nationals lineup who'll really work a count...
…While everyone in the Red Sox lineup will do that."
by Ben Buchanan on Jun 24, 2009 7:28 PM EDT up reply actions
Not sure if that completely counts as jinxing it.
He didn’t get all numbery and stuff.
OverTheMonster - ALLERGEN WARNING: May contain peanut butter.
For those without benefit of a live feed,
Green just got hit by a broken bat which prevented him from fielding a possible double play ball.
by Ben Buchanan on Jun 24, 2009 7:31 PM EDT up reply actions
Wonder if I'll be able to find a video of that.
Could compliment the flip.
OverTheMonster - ALLERGEN WARNING: May contain peanut butter.
I thought pine was the bat that broke easily?
OverTheMonster - ALLERGEN WARNING: May contain peanut butter.
Huh?!?!
you are not going to use a soft wood for a bat, it is going to be a hardwood like Ash, Hickory or Maple. Pine is going to the tar not the bat.
Now, does that count as an ER or not?
No way they give Nicky an error on that, right?
OverTheMonster - ALLERGEN WARNING: May contain peanut butter.
Single + ER
Which sucks for Lester, of course. There should be a seperate stat for shit like that.

Never heard NG go off on a tirade about either of them.
OverTheMonster - ALLERGEN WARNING: May contain peanut butter.
Okay, I'm gonna stop looking through OTM's archives for GIFs now.
Most of the comments with “GIF” in them were mine, and I was getting into the posts where I was a complete asshole about DRB and life in general.
OverTheMonster - ALLERGEN WARNING: May contain peanut butter.
Way more seats, right?
We could have the same number of fans there as in Fenway.
OverTheMonster - ALLERGEN WARNING: May contain peanut butter.
Which would be just under Fenway totals by a few thousand.
OverTheMonster - ALLERGEN WARNING: May contain peanut butter.
Is that the first road HR for the Large Father?
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

Dibble
before the pitch, Rob Dibble says that maybe it’s time for a change-up, since Papi won’t be expecting it. Stammen throws the change-up, and Papi knocks it out. So Dibble talks about how Stammen did Papi a favor, since he was way behind the fastball.
Dibble is an idiot

Hadn't even noticed it yet.
No news is good news.
OverTheMonster - ALLERGEN WARNING: May contain peanut butter.
Ortiz isn't a bad first basemen..
it is the position he played at while going up the minor and big leagues. His probably biggest deficit is his range, but he can field fine, unlike someone like Jason Giambi.
He's actually playing good defensively
I managed to watch the first half of the game. For someone who doesn’t field hardly ever, and who isn’t as quick as Youk, I’m satisfied.
His 3-run blast, to one of the deepest parts of the field mind you, is worth it.

HP ump Bob Davidson is clinicly blind
The only Red Sox fan in a country where nobody cares about basball!
Seriously. Bitter, too.
Did you see the look he gave the crowd after tossing Magadan and talking to Tito?
He’s just a grumpy old man.

On another note
Looks like Lester is settled a bit. Having an average outing, which I’ll take.

You're relatively new and you know about NG.
RickD, haven’t you been on here for a while?
OverTheMonster - ALLERGEN WARNING: May contain peanut butter.
my attention span varies
I pay more attention when the Sox are on local TV (i’m in the DC suburbs) But I’ve been “here” for a few years.
That would explain it.
If you really want to know, click on anyone’s username, then go up to the URL when the new page opens and replace their username with NG.

I'm a fast learner.
I’ve seen his posts about Tek and Wake and know he’s FOS. I take the rest from there.

I wouldn't call him that, but he's a bit on the stubborn side.
He won’t accept when we prove him wrong, and he refuses to ever elaborate or try to fix problems he notices.
OverTheMonster - ALLERGEN WARNING: May contain peanut butter.
Can't fault the one run...
That was terrible luck for Nicky Green. I’m just glad he was able to deflect it with his arm without getting hurt. Gotta give him props for trying for the ball as long as he could…

*one-hitter
The one hit by the pitcher.
Well, I'll appreciate for you to keep my zingers outta your mouth!
Right
but if not for the broken bat in Green’s face, there would probably still be a shutout.
But it’s one run. Compared to our offense right now, in the grand scheme of things, it’s a teeny blip :-)

A catcher HR too in Atl

How accurate is Gameday's pitch location?
I’m seeing a TON of strikes called balls. AND vice versa.

I'd say that's being polite...

Oh.
Anyone warming, now that it’s a save situation again?
OverTheMonster - ALLERGEN WARNING: May contain peanut butter.
fwiw
it’s not like Lester is getting knocked around. Only Zimmerman hit the ball hard. Willingham just managed to hit an empty area…
Anyway, I think Lester has at least one more inning in him. Pitch count isn’t that high yet…
103?
Didn’t know about lack of good contact – thanks.
OverTheMonster - ALLERGEN WARNING: May contain peanut butter.
Yep, Lester is likely done

Yahoo
was saying 74 when I typed that, and they already had said the inning was over.
Now they’ve got it up to 103. I guess when it said 74, they weren’t very serious.
Agree if it’s at 103, it’s more likely to see a reliever.
Maybe 74 before the inning?
Slow updates I guess.
OverTheMonster - ALLERGEN WARNING: May contain peanut butter.
Grounded back to Lester
Who got the runner on third in a run down. Johnson took second.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

Capitan's left shoulder and neck muscles got hurt, he played through it:
OverTheMonster - ALLERGEN WARNING: May contain peanut butter.
i like that kind of interview
where a player talks about how much he’s not talking about being injured.
He only talked about it b/c he got caught on camera getting it cared to.
But yeah, I get what you mean.
OverTheMonster - ALLERGEN WARNING: May contain peanut butter.
Also increasing the likihood of Paps coming in in a few innings.
OverTheMonster - ALLERGEN WARNING: May contain peanut butter.
well, he had yesterday off
I would pencil Paps in for the 9th unless the Sox score a couple more runs.
It's all Lugo fault
You put him on your lineup (even as a PH) and you increase the chances of loosing!

Hey guys
Just got home. Let’s get out of this inning, shall we?

Oh
And kudos to Big Papi. I can’t say I never doubted him this season because I thought he was done, but the guy’s doing great lately.

Pretty good for a Corpse
But he still sucks, and if we don’t stop saying he does he’ll REALLY starts sucking. Know what I mean?

Oh, yeah, forgot about that.

OverTheMonster - ALLERGEN WARNING: May contain peanut butter.
I'll give the Nats announcers one thing -
they are an optimistic bunch. They keep talking trash about how we’re only winning because of two bad pitches, and playing out scenarios for how they can come back.
It’s sort of funny.
Manny ain't the only bad man.
[some cheezy cliche about crazy people]
I’m tired.

Paps really hasn’t been as good this year, stuff wise.
