Braves vs Red Sox recap

After a rough outing against the Phillies, Josh Beckett bounced back by shutting out the Atlanta Braves in a 3-0 Red Sox victory on Saturday.

Beckett allowed just five hits, no walks and struck out seven in his 95-pitch gem. He pitched so well that he lowered his ERA to 3.74 and gave himself his 8th win of the season. Derek Lowe, in his return to Boston, got the loss after going 6.1 innings, allowing three runs, seven hits, one walk and two strikeouts.

And while the offense STILL seems to be struggling, the Sox benefited because Beckett was just that good. Nick Green, Kevin Youkilis and Dustin Pedroia had the RBIs in the game. Jason Varitek and Green were the team's only players with multiple hits.

Sox finish out the series Sunday at 1:35 on NESN/TBS. Sox will send Tim Wakefield out to the mound while the Braves will counter with Jair Jurrjens.

I think Beckett is getting used to it.

Just look at his face. And Lowell’s face? Ha.

Well, I'll appreciate for you to keep my zingers outta your mouth!

That's an old picture from a previous game.

I remember laughing at it briefly because Beckett’s eyes are closed. You’d think they could’ve used the next picture of the series. haha.

…unless it’s a coincidence that the pic looks the same

But yes, a god he is.

Umm... it says "23 hours ago" for me.

That’d mean that it was a new pic, since they can’t really re-upload a pic.
