Penny is throwing hard

He’s sitting mid 90s and hit 97 already. usually, he is in the low 90s early and his velocity gets better as the game goes on.

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

Shouldn't be a problem...

I was at the Dodgers-A’s last night in my Sox hat, and have gone many times – no real problems, so long as you aren’t vocally and obnoxiously in favor of the visitors. Remember, though, some of these people are former L.A. Raiders fans, and those guys will stab you in the parking lot if you provoke them (intentional homicide, as opposed to LAA’s namby-pamby pantywaist accidental homicide).

No public transit access or shuttle to the park (the McCourts make their money on the parking). Otherwise, Chavez Ravine is a damn fine place to see a game. It get colder than you’d expect once the sun goes down. The garlic fries look tempting, but can be too much. Recommend Camacho’s Nachos instead. Better yet, go to Yang Chow in Chinatown (at the base of the hill) and get the slippery shrimp.

Rock me, sexy Jesus...

It seems like if teams are gonna make a push for pitching

Penny will be one of the front running names. Peavy on the DL, Bedard is now on the DL, Chris Young is on the DL, Millwood is likely gonna stay a Ranger while they are in contention.. not alot of pitchers left who have a chance of being dealt.

by Drugs Delaney on Jun 17, 2009 9:06 PM EDT up reply actions

Who's available that fits that billing?

It’s not like there’s going to be a lot of pitchers on the open market this year. A lot of the candidates are already on the DL. Also, I think a lot of divisions are still very competitive, so there’s no incentive to deal away players unless you absolutely have to slash payroll NOW.

by lone1c on Jun 17, 2009 9:08 PM EDT up reply actions

Bedard's their first option, it appears.

They’re “weary” of him though, so they’ll prolly look elsewhere – he was just their first idea, I guess.

Either.

by bdalebs on Jun 17, 2009 9:14 PM EDT up reply actions

There is nobody availible that is a grade A pitcher

Brandon Webb might be, but he is coming off the DL so its unlikely.

Rich Harden could be, but hes an injury risk and not alot of clubs see him as a frontline type of guy.

Peavy is out till after the all-star break so thats not happening

Oswalt’s name is being thrown around, but the Astros aren’t ready to trade him.

Lackey could be a trade candidate, but again, coming off injury and with almost all the other angels starters injured, he probably wont go.

Bedard was mentioned too after his stellar start to the season, but he is now on the DL so I doubt he will move.

I didn't like the old one very much. I didn't see the ball there very well. - Julio Lugo on the old Yankees Stadium.

by Charged on Jun 17, 2009 9:11 PM EDT up reply actions

Unfortunately, the trade Theo made that sent Cornrows to Cincy...

which was made while we had a surplus, then conspired to bite us in the ass with the injury bug, is making him paranoid about dealing Penny.

by bdalebs on Jun 17, 2009 9:05 PM EDT up reply actions

But the difference is we're not exactly short on pitching.

We have at least two guys who could fill in at least part time (Buchholz and Bowden). So even if we trade one, we still have two in the tank.

whatever

laugh all you want, it iis noticeable.

No one called Theo a KKK member . Based on Red Sox history it is troubling. Why dont Black players want to play for the Sox? Why do the Sox seem to not recruit Black players or seek Black free agents? I think me & e coli were the only two who mentioned it-, so I dont get the comment there is “a lot of talk”-I made the comment & e coli responded in kind, bs you took it to the KKK level before & here we are again.

ANd don’t give me “the Celtics entire team is Black” argument becase the NBA is diff.

It’s an unpopular position I took but oh well, mock all you want but educate yourselves a bit first…sometimes you shouldnt mock what you dont understand…try seeing both sides and lay off the flip, sarcastic rimshot manner.

And I said nothing about quotas, I just said it struck me as odd & troubling when I noticed it.
