U mean the offense u don’t want to trade prospects to improve?

by matzushocka45 on May 24, 2009 3:57 PM EDT up reply actions

He just hit a 3 run homer today.

He’s slow, and unfortunately couldn’t get the ball where he wanted it last night.
Plus, the Mets played almost perfect defense in the 9th – their only goof (Wright’s throw) was fixed immediately by a great play (Castillo’s stretch).

by bdalebs on May 24, 2009 4:01 PM EDT up reply actions

Lowell is not the issue.

by matzushocka45 on May 24, 2009 4:02 PM EDT up reply actions

You're playing "Yankee ball" about the issue

To you, a trade is the only solution. Why give up valuable prospects for half a year or a full year of service from some guy?

I didn't like the old one very much. I didn't see the ball there very well. - Julio Lugo on the old Yankees Stadium.

by Charged on May 24, 2009 4:05 PM EDT up reply actions

Yes. That offense

Offenses don’t click every single game. Look at the Tigers a year or two ago. Or the Rangers this year. Do they score 10 times every game? No. Do they have close losses? Yes. Every offense isn’t always on. Papi is just the black hole of our offense at this point.

I didn't like the old one very much. I didn't see the ball there very well. - Julio Lugo on the old Yankees Stadium.

by Charged on May 24, 2009 3:58 PM EDT up reply actions

Yes, we need to replace papi, with someone who can hit 30+ IS THE POINT.

by matzushocka45 on May 24, 2009 4:00 PM EDT up reply actions

Then wait till the offseason.

Why give up prospects? What the hell are we gonna get back if we clean out our farm system? I guarantee it damn sure won’t be an Adam Dunn or Adrian Gonzalez. It’ll probably be a Magglio Ordonez or Victor Martinez or Jermaine Dye/Konerko.

I didn't like the old one very much. I didn't see the ball there very well. - Julio Lugo on the old Yankees Stadium.

by Charged on May 24, 2009 4:01 PM EDT up reply actions

Meh, like I said yesterday, you have to give to get. My fear is we screw around and end up signing Holliday next season. i think Bay is playing himself into a huge contract somewhere else.

by matzushocka45 on May 24, 2009 4:04 PM EDT up reply actions

Last four guys:

Mags: getting and can’t hit as well anymore
VMart: way over-performing
Dye: I suggested it a while ago, but I’d like to look at Quentin.
Konerko: has been horrible for a few years, IIRC.

by bdalebs on May 24, 2009 4:05 PM EDT up reply actions

Quentin won't happen

Dye probably wouldn’t even happen, seeing as that is their only real offense right now.

by Charged on May 24, 2009 4:08 PM EDT up reply actions

dye doesnt want to come to Boston, he said so last year or year before…it almost happened.

by matzushocka45 on May 24, 2009 4:08 PM EDT up reply actions

Nobody.

Honestly, nobody. A team like the White Sox would probably be willing to give up Konerko for Penny and a mid level prospect (Like Hagadone), but even that is too much for a hitter who sucks ass now.

I didn't like the old one very much. I didn't see the ball there very well. - Julio Lugo on the old Yankees Stadium.

Votto
H-ram (least likely scenario)

by matzushocka45 on May 24, 2009 4:09 PM EDT up reply actions

by bdalebs on May 24, 2009 4:14 PM EDT up reply actions

I doubt Votto is the one they would trade

It would probably be Yonder Alonso, and he is not an ML ready player.

did you guys get a good look? off the bat it looked gone. The met announcers (who are actually good and honest) thought it was foul but said the guys in their truck said it was fair. the replay showed it off the bud sign, which “looks” fair compared to the foul pole, but ron darling pointed out is at least partly in foul territory…

i predict ortiz “volunteers” to be placed down in order after today.

by matzushocka45 on May 24, 2009 4:44 PM EDT reply actions

That'd be nice.

Or if Tito realized that he’s not doing Papi any favors.

by bdalebs on May 24, 2009 4:46 PM EDT up reply actions

Another Series benching won't do anything.

He needs to bat to work it out. But i’d support him dropping down.

There are only two players in the game right now without an RBI on the Sox

Anyone know who?

Beautiful work by MDC

Do we send him for another inning so he can get the save?

by MerryGoByeBye on May 24, 2009 4:50 PM EDT reply actions

When he was put in the game, it was still a 3 run game

Isn’t it a save if he finishes it?

by Charged on May 24, 2009 4:51 PM EDT up reply actions

How?

A three-inning save, because the runs didn’t come until the 7th?

by lone1c on May 24, 2009 4:52 PM EDT up reply actions

Yes

We were only ahead by 3 when he came in.

So he gets a hold

If he doesn’t work the 9th.

by lone1c on May 24, 2009 4:53 PM EDT up reply actions

I think so.

Not sure if it is still a hold if we have a 7 run lead now.

That'd be a save.

Any three inning performance from a reliever to end a win is a save.
