GameThread: Blue Jays @ Red Sox - 5/21/09

Toronto Blue Jays at Boston Red Sox, May 21, 2009 7:10 PM EDT

Two down, one more to go.

The Red Sox go for the sweep tonight against the AL East-leading Toronto Blue Jays. The Sox mashed their way to an 8-3 victory last night. Let's hope they can do the same thing tonight.

Your starters' stats:

W-L G GS CG SHO SV BS IP H R ER HR BB K ERA WHIP
2009 - Jon Lester 2-4 8 8 0 0 0 0 47.0 60 34 34 10 16 54 6.51 1.62

W-L G GS CG SHO SV BS IP H R ER HR BB K ERA WHIP
2009 - Robert Ray 1-1 3 3 0 0 0 0 20.0 17 10 8 3 5 9 3.60 1.10

Jon Lester hasn't been very good this season, but let's hope he turns it around tonight so the Sox can pull out the sweep. Lester has actually been better at home this season with a 6.04 ERA (6.93 on the road).

Cool

Grey Goose and Sprite has the acidity of like 2.2 No way I do that every or any night except like once a month. Not a heavy drinker, mostly wine. Not that I drink anyways.

It is better to learn German...

They are the masters of Europe, Berlin is pretty much becoming the capital of Europe… besides I run into Germans all the time from travelling..

German helps getting to know other Germanic languages like Dutch, Swedish, Danish and Norwegian..

If you are interested in learning German, go to the Goethe Institute website, (pronounce Gurt-ta) they can point to classes near you…

Chains - Mickey D's Steakhouse, the King's, Sonic, Wendy's, etc.

Or Belly Buster’s – still haven’t been hungry enough to try the 1lb burger+1lb fries challenge. My nacho salad last night was awesome though.

by DougieWentDeep on May 21, 2009 8:53 PM EDT up reply actions

Yes.

I’m clean – I’d be dead if I ever tried that stuff.

As they say in South Park...

There is a time and place for that: it is called College…

by superferret on May 21, 2009 9:06 PM EDT up reply actions

I can bitch about Agri-Business...

I think some local burger joints are okay..

Southern California
Tommy’s
In-n-Out
In the Pacific Northwest
A&W
Dick’s
I will even put Dairy Queen, because they are in every small town in Oregon..

by superferret on May 21, 2009 8:53 PM EDT up reply actions

Umm...

Dairy Queen, A&W are big chains. In-n-Out needs to be.

Also: Whataburger = ZOMG

by bdalebs on May 21, 2009 8:55 PM EDT up reply actions

They aren't nationwide chains..

Anyway, I don’t red meat, and I don’t want to contribute to the insanity of the Cattle business, that is screwing up our natural resources..

by superferret on May 21, 2009 8:59 PM EDT up reply actions

Besides of my hippie ways...

Burgers are effing boring…

If I am forced to make burgers for a barbecue, I rather buy sirloin and ground it up..

I rather grilled salmon or fish for a house party..

by superferret on May 21, 2009 8:55 PM EDT up reply actions

You're not grilling them right.

Gotta add some spice, cook with different fire strengths for different lengths of time.

by bdalebs on May 21, 2009 8:58 PM EDT up reply actions

I know how to cook...

I also grow my own herbs, (no not those “herbs”) as I wrote, if I am forced to make burgers, I rather buy sirloin and make burgers out of that…

Burgers are really boring. I rather marinade coho salmon or king salmon when it is in season…

Much like the best food I ever had by far was in Japan.

by superferret on May 21, 2009 9:08 PM EDT up reply actions

salmon...thats pretty good too

i think i may even have some

Marinade it in...

White wine like a Pinot Griego

or

Lots of lime with a bit of cilantro and a tad bit of a fennel

or use garlic,

Difference between NESN and YES

YES has the the overhead of the plate to see if the Umpire was close on his call.

by superferret on May 21, 2009 9:03 PM EDT reply actions

Perhaps...

but NESN has Ecks to say “I gotta have that one”

1-2-3

Good to see him get at least one of those

Okay Lester...

Two more innings before giving it to Hunter and Ramon… Don’t Double Cheeser this!! (to keep to the burger theme)

by superferret on May 21, 2009 9:04 PM EDT reply actions

Great game so far

Just got off work but have been following it via Twitter and mobile gameday. Lester looks sharp. Either that, or the Toronto offense just looks miserable.

I didn't like the old one very much. I didn't see the ball there very well. - Julio Lugo on the old Yankees Stadium.

His Curve ball look like pretty good.

Orioles are 4 back..in the 7th...

With the MFY bullpen… that is sort of like a lead..

He is not hitting the corner…

dear toronto

Now that you are done beating up on the crap which defines the rest of the league, please enjoy the remaining 41 games you have still against us, NY and the Rays….
