Anyone have numbers for average BA on line drives, fly balls, ground balls, etc?
Just watching Pedroia he seems pretty unlucky for all the line-outs, sharp ground outs, etc. Even against the Angels there was the over-the-shoulder catch on the pitch he absolutely smoked.
His BABIP is high at .338. On the other hand, it’s only .002 higher than his ’08 and .004 higher than ’07, so I think we can stop calling that a fluke stat for him.
However, he’s got a 24.6 LD% (21.2% last year), a 37.0 GB%, and a 38.4 FB%.
I’m just wondering if the drop in GB and raise in FB counters the LD% enough to keep him at a consistent level of “luck” as it were.
