Captain Undead projections
So I'm feeling relatively optimistic about the Catcher-Formerly-Known-As-Corpse. He has been reworking his lefty swing, is in good shape, and hit 5 bombs in 50 ABs this spring. I wrote somewhere last night that I'm seeing 20 HRs for him this year, and it occurred to me that we haven't had any community projections for Tek
So, without further ado...
AB: 420
HR: 22
BA: .255
OBP: .367
SLG: .440

Love the title.
We actually did do the community projections for Varitek, but it was over a month ago. See here. He was actually the first one Randy started with. That said, we certainly can discuss his performance again, especially in light of his home-run this afternoon.

Hmmm.
And apparently I projected him too.
But that was before he started hitting BOMBS lefty.

dude, if carcass posts an ops of over 800 i will take you out for dinner, or at least never menton the name in a negative light again.
I'm still angry that the Carcass wasted so many HR in ST
I can’t see him with an OPS over .750. I’ll be ecstatic if he replicates his 2007 OPS of .787, his highest the last three years.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.
Damn, even my predictions for Tek look bad now.
Mulligan:
AB: 480
HR: 23
BA: .255
OBP: .350
SLG: .465
that seems about right,
remember, new stance or not, Tek starts stronger than he finishes.

Slight rebound
If only because falling objects bounce when they hit the ground.

I recall in the season opener
When we beat the Rays 5-3, that one of the announcers said that Tek had a lot of power, but hit less than 200 on the left side. So if he hit 5 bombs in 50 atbats, that is a home run average of 100. So he had more home runs than base hits? Somebody check the numbers.
Well, I'll appreciate for you to keep my zingers outta your mouth!
I think I do.
But I was under the weather then and a little now. Wasn’t on for long, had to get back to sleep.

Varitek
He always looks good in April. Then he gets progressively worse as the season goes on. He will bat 240 as he has done the past 3 seasons. The only difference now is he can’t throw out runners anymore. So far 10 of 11 against Boston catchers in the stolen base dept.
I see things you don't see.
Thanks for telling us things we already know, Louie

Laziness kills, Louis.
Since 2001, the only season where April was his best month was 2005. From 2006-2008, April was his third best month, behind May and August. His pre-AS break OPS (.719) is worse than his post-AS break OPS (.745).
I’m big on evidence, you should try it sometime.
