In case
Anyone was wondering, I f’n meant to write it like this.
Hell yeah.
"Are you a real doctor, or a doctor like Dr. Pepper is a doctor?"
2004 - April 23-25
Fri, Apr 23 @ NY Yankees W 11-2
Sat, Apr 24 @ NY Yankees W 3-2
Sun, Apr 25 @ NY Yankees W 2-0
I was at that 3rd game in Yankee stadium, Pedro pitched an absolute gem to clinch the sweep. I remember going to drink at “Stan’s Sports Bar” across the street from the stadium and nearly got shanked, albeit deservedly so, for excessive celebration.
Allen, you beat me to the punch.
I figured I’d do the post game, seeing as how the Sox are doing pretty well when I write it, but you capture the essence of what I was going to write about (and used the same photo). But if we lose tomorrow, I’m blaming you. [/Just kidding]
"It's just a tiny little nick, but it hurts when I get champagne in there."

2004, sort of
We played two series with the MFYs in April that year. We split the home series 3-1, but swept them at the Toilet.
I accept your apology...

Sorry, got my facts wrong
Swept them at home, took two out of three at the Toilet.
So we swept them at home, but didn’t sweep them completely.
No apology.
The only downside of all this?
The campaign to have Drew bat leadoff is now, sadly, stalled in the water for, oh, probably as long as Ellsbury plays in Boston.
What's the downside?
If Ellsbury can get on base regularly the way he has the last handful of games — the way he did in 2007 — then we get the OBP machine at the top of the order we’d want Drew to be, but with the added advantage of Drew’s greater power and RBI potential in the heart of the order.
The only downside of all this is if Ellsbury goes back to a .320 OBP. I, for one, am hopeful that he rediscovered the ability he seemed to have forgotten last year.
Visiting from A's Nation here
What’s up with Bowden? Is he going right back to Pawtucket?
I enjoyed watching him pitch tonight. He short arms the ball, a bit like that reliever who shall go un-named.

More people are getting to like Bowden!
That warms my heart, the kid is seriously underrated.

Yeah he's tough.
That’s actually the first time I got to see him pitch; heard a lot of things about him though. How is his release with men on base? It just seems like his wind-up is way too long.
Great outing for him though!!!
First time I saw him pitch too.
He is huge. Tall and really muscular. You don’t see a lot of pitchers that are as physically imposing as this kid.
The guy above me
has the best quote ever. lol ATHF. and yes Ellsbury is a beast

You know
I had some friends over, and some people were watching the game (it was on on the local ESPN, which is rare). I was sitting on the couch and when the crowd went wild I said to myself “shit, it CAN’T be”. It was. Glorious stuff.

I saw it live
and wow, I’ve never seen it on TV let alone live. Just really awesome to see.
Ellsbury will now live in lore..
He didn’t help beat the Yankees, he help humiliate the Yankees. with stealing home. There is nothing sweeter than sticking it to the Yankees like that.
I remember when the Blue Jays did this to Randy Johnson in 2005 or 2006, when they stole home, I don’t know if Posada was the catcher, because Johnson didn’t like having Posada as his catcher.
I’ll put a wager that when the Sox play the Yankees at Yankee Stadium in the next battle between them, Ellsbury will either get a brush back or get hit for humiliating them with his super huevos move.
Re: Ellsbury stealing home
Hey MFY, that’s what happens when you play your DH at catcher.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.
Posada is going to hear an earful from his former back up, now manager...
Girardi has to be pissed off for Posada not paying attention..
I'm pretty sure...
…that Girardi’s too busy figuring out how to screw up his bullpen to give anyone an earful. He’s not the sharpest tool in the shed. And being the Yankees, there are a lot, a lot of tools in that particular shed.
Rock me, sexy Jesus...

Girardi has been given a bad bullpen to start with, and the Yankees bullpen has been a problem, even since 2006, but the starting pitching and their awesome lineup kept the damage to a minimum. The wheels started to fall off when their starting pitching falter last year.
Girardi has managed okay with a good team, but he is under a pressure cooker, and the Yankees demand he manages like LaRussa or Pinella, even though they too, have their bad days and bad seasons.
Speaking of stealing home...
Anybody see the resemblance?

Field Box Seat Ticket at Fenway Park: $125
Cost of Gas driving round trip from NH to Fenway and back: $50
Parking near Fenway: $40
Price of a Monster Dog: $6.75
Cost of one Premium Beer: $7.75
Look on the faces of Yankees players and fans when Ells stole home: FUCKING PRICELESS!!!!
Now please, no more talk about Ellsbury's place in the line-up!
Anyone that can steal home outright and directly deserves to be in the line-up and probably leading off!
Nah
The ability to steal first base is more important. Ells hasn’t mastered that yet.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

Awesome.
Would’ve been more awesome if it wasn’t replayed like a BILLION times last night.
Also, I can’t quote one of the most watched comedy acts of all time? It even had a jab at my religion and I can still laugh at it.
