Two quick groundouts. I like it.
And Gameday already lost its strike zone.

Yes! Grounds balls!
Quick Outs! This is what we need.

Masterson looks damn good.
it’s early, but he looked great in that inning.

Did anyone see Tex's interview before game one?
Such a disingenuous putz. I was not on the Tex bandwagon because I don’t think he is worth a gazillion bucks but anyway…
He was such a schmuck ; commented that he hoped fans wouldn’t wish ill & death on his family. Whatever, get over yourself, it isn’t that serious Tex.
"You know," Girardi said, shrugging his shoulders, "it didn't work."

he seems like he would be the kind of guy that acts “humble” just so people will talk about how “humble” he is. putz is a good word for that.

Plenty, I'd expect.
His arm should be well stretched. Lots of good sized outings in ST, 4 innings for wake, 5.1 innings last time out. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him reach 90.
So far, I've NEVER felt insecure about Masterson starting.
He’s never been the type to let a game get away from him. And right now he’s looking better than usual.
by Ben Buchanan on Apr 26, 2009 8:28 PM EDT up reply actions
Me too.
Unfortunately, his arm action scares the hell out of me. I can’t see him being able to keep it up for 150+ IP per year.
I like all the stupid Joba
to the pen talk. As if the Yankees have such depth in their rotation, which is performing so well right now.
like the 1 extra inning now and then is a good band-aid
for taking out a good 5th starter when you have to bring guys up to fill in for CM “34ERA” Wang
Me too
The only good reason to move Joba to the pen would be if you needed more room in the dugout. Joba is a fat load.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

Masterson isn't getting the outside calls Pettitte is.
Still making quick work of ’em. Love that inning almost as much as the first.
The veteran calls?
Home plate Ump: Gary Cederstrom
- 82.8 % pitch calling correctness (just under AVG)
- He has an average tendency to call borderline pitches either way

It was actually kinda funny how I broke the news to my mom (her:Tek::you:Manny).
I was out with my family and we had the DVR recording the game. My sister was asking why we were recording the game (she doesn’t get sports), and my mom said “What if Tek hits a Grand Slam?” When he hit it, I got a text alert on my cell, went up to her, and said, “Remind me again why we are recording this game?”
HA!
I gotta admit I was shocked when I heard it. I see Tek & think : automatic out.

He's made some boneheaded basrunning mistakes this season, iirc.
As has much of the rest of the team. Papi trying to steal. After you already got the tying run, and there’s no double play to worry about, you sit at first and wait for the home run / double to drive you in.
