Baldelli to DL, Bailey called up
After leaving yesterday's game early, Rocco Baldelli has been put on the 15-day disabled list. Jeff Bailey was called up to replace him:
Baldelli left the Red Sox' victory over the Orioles yesterday before the top of the fourth inning with a mild left hamstring strain. The inning before, Baldelli had made it to third base on an error by right fielder Nick Markakis, who overran a fly ball and had it bounce off his glove. Coming around second, Baldelli aggravated an injury that kept him out of the lineup last Wednesday.
Bailey, 30, who lost a battle with Chris Carter for one of the final roster spots this spring, was batting .255 with four homers in 47 at-bats at Pawtucket this season.
Bailey isn't bad, but he's no Rocco. Rocco was versatile with the Sox and could do a lot. We're going to miss the speed and defense with Bailey on the team for the meantime.

Good for Bailey
Can’t find a better clubhouse guy—or more loyal guy for that matter—in the system. He’s even shown that he’s not a black hole in an MLB lineup.
It does. Drew isn’t extremely fast, but he can cover ground. I have no worries…

I'm not worried per se
but it would be nice if we had a bench guy who could spell Ells in CF.
Manny ain't the only bad man.
