Lars Anderson, Josh Reddick sent down; Lugo out
Sorry folks, but you won't be seeing any more of Lars Anderson this spring.
Anderson was sent back to the minors along with outfielders Josh Reddick and Zach Daeges, catcher Mark Wagner and pitchers Felix Doubront and Hunter Jones.
Extra Bases touches on how Reddick was the most effective minor leaguer in the Spring. They also have a piece on how he bulked up big time over the offseason.
Also in the news (I sound like a fake broadcaster), Julio Lugo had arthoscopic surgery
on his right knee. He'll be out about a month, so the Opening Day shortstop job is automatically Jed Lowrie's. Lowrie is batting .406 this spring.

Make that .429
Lowrie was 2 for 3 today—both singles, dropping his OPS to “just” 1.200.

Woo! Sox win! Sox win!
Oh wait. That’s the Mother’s Day Miracle game on NESN. They still won though… :)

Lars and Reddick...
This is the part where Ortiz and the outfield cringe in terror…. Both say, “I’ll be back”
Because come July if the Sox are struggling for first, Lars may drop another Terminator line,
“Come with me if you want to live”
I have no idea why i just wrote that… I have three things on my summer wish list, see the sox play, see the new Terminator movie, and watch Lowrie and Bucholz secure jobs in the Bigs

Just great
Now Lugo is worthless. I was hoping he’d play well in a temporary role then we could dump his arse for something worthwhile….now, pffft, nothing…the dude is worth nothing.

1+
Lugo has ALWAYS been worthless as a Red Sox. I’m disappointed the injury isn’t going to keep him out longer. He’s poison – get rid of him, Boston!

It's hard to get anyone to want him if he can't play.
I think that’s the point.

Lugo's injury may have very well ended his starting career in Boston
It is definitely a blessing in disguise for Jed Lowrie

Competion delayed
When Lugo is healthy, he will be put right back into the lineup. They need to find out right away if he has any value left, for a possible trade or maybe spring training is an indication of resurgence. If he starts to fail, hitting or fielding or probably both, it could get ugly.

No time to lose waiting for Lugo to find himself
Given how potentially tight the 3-way race between the MFY, TB, and Sox could be, letting Lugo in and watching him flounder could be a potentially fatal mistake. Lugo will need to be absolutely 100% (or even 110%) ready to be active everyday before the Sox should even think about bringing him back off the DL. The only exception to this is if Lowrie gets off to an extremely slow start out of the gate.
