Over The Monster is yahoo for Yahoo!
Readers of Over the Monster,
I would like to announce something that's been brewing for awhile but officially launched today: SBNation has partnered with Yahoo! Sports:
As members of our communities or readers of our sites, you already know that SB Nation takes a different approach to online sports. Our focus has always been on empowering fans to participate in conversations that are specific to their particular teams, leagues or sports. We’ve watched over the years as the popularity of this unique approach has rapidly accelerated.
Today we want to welcome some new members to our flourishing communities. SB Nation and our friends at Yahoo are partnering to give Yahoo Sports audiences one click access to our sites and content. In addition to being the largest sport property on the web, Yahoo Sports is known for some of the best general sports blogs including: Ball Don’t Lie, Puck Daddy, Dr. Saturday, Big League Stew and others.
What does this mean? It means you will see OTM content on Yahoo! pages. For example, if you head over to the Red Sox page you will see this if you scroll down just a little bit:
You'll also see OTM content on other pages like when games are actually in progress. We won't really see the full extent of OTM on Yahoo! until the regular season starts.
Here's your bottom line: this is a great thing for Over The Monster, SBNation, Yahoo and, especially, you -- the readers.
I feel like this is a great time to just thank all the readers that have spent time on OTM. You are the ones that make this the great place that it is. You are the ones that are pushing OTM beyond my realm of expectations. I have been blogging about the Red Sox since early 2004 and this is, without a doubt, the best time I've ever had.
Thank you to everyone.
If you have any questions, pose them in the comments section and I will try my best to answer them. And if you are coming here from Yahoo!, then I hope you stick around, register a name and enjoy your stay.

So I assume we'll be seeing more traffic?
We’ve always been at a traffic disadvantage as compared to other SB blogs, seeing as how SOSH, etc., had an early stake on the intertubes.
Hopefully we’ll get some interesting new friends among the yahoos.

Traffic should definitely see an increase. It has been on a huge rise though in the last couple of months. If I remember correctly, in January OTM was the 2nd highest ranked blog (on the SBN network, 180 blogs) in terms of improved traffic compared to the previous year.

Hmmm
I guess we’ve seen some new faces recently. Come to think of it, I think I first came here during the off-season too – trying to fend off wintertime Sox withdrawal.

New here but not because of Yahoo!
I came to SB Nation via the Cowboys and I liked that blog (Blogging The Boys) so I decided to join a Sox blog since I’m in the neighborhood so often. Oddly enough, I am a Red Sox fan because I became a Cowboys fan in my youth—about 1969, 1970, but that’s another discussion altogether.
I look forward to reading your stuff and the comments. I might even pitch out a few myself. Go Sox!
If you are beating a dead horse, you might be a Cowboys fan.

Great news!
Congrats Randy! – This should be a great thing for OTM… to be honest, I’m jealous.
Go Sox!

Does this partnership purely relate to content-sharing?
Or does Yahoo take a financial stake in SBN, and exercise control over, and by extension, own, SBN content?

It’s purely content sharing. Yahoo! has no say over content on any SBN site.

Okay. Thanks, Randy.

You should rebrand as
Allen!

Hahaha.
That’s a pretty good idea.
