Scutaro signs with the Red Sox? Stay tuned.
There's some chatter going on in Venezuela right now. I'll make it a story when there's more confirmation.
Thanks to SoxProspects poster Norbit14 for the link.
Sources are "close to the player".
Ed Price has confirmed, says 2 years via Twitter. Thanks to CasanovaWong, our local favorite Yankee fan.

Galactus does as he pleases. Because Galactus is drunk.

I was just feeling dramatic, is all.
But I still don’t like it. Unless the money is right.

I'm so writing a story.
He was worth $20 million last year, and $11 on a more usual/projected year. To say nothing of the inherently increased price caused by our need and the weak market.
If it’s held to two years, then it’s a surprisingly good signing. I think this Scutaro negativity is a self-feeding beast.

No, it isn't good.
Scutaro is an average player, at best (questionable defense, below average offense). If I were GM, and Scutaro offered to play for free, I’d still rather have my first round and sandwich picks. mmm… sandwich… This is EXACTLY the kind of head-scratching move that Theo got burned on with Lugo.
"It's just a tiny little nick, but it hurts when I get champagne in there."
- Jason Bay, on getting spiked scoring the winning run in ALDS Game Four.
We're not giving up any sandwhich picks. Those are just generated.
And if we sign pretty much any other Type-A we’re interested in we give up only a second rounder for Scutaro.

I think the simple fact that he WAS a Type A shortstop just goes to show how weak that position is right now
If he can sustain his average defense with a good portion of last year’s offense, that’s an above average SS my friend.
I won’t come down one way or another until A) It’s actually official B) Dollar amounts are given and C) I see what other moves the team makes. In a vacuum, as our first major move, it’s not great, but if some other moves happen this could turn out to be a strictly average move.

Mmm. Hopefully average.

I'd say it's good at 2-years.
Stop-gap to Iglesias.
Would’ve preferred Lowrie, but there wasn’t much of a way to give him a shot.
Keep in mind that Scutaro has never played consistently in a hitter’s park like Fenway. His splits here aren’t good, but he was always facing Sox pitching

2 year deal would be perfect. no other options. he can utility if Jed proves himself.
Miguel Cabrera IS the solution to our problems.
Release Jason Varitek before ST is over !
Do not pay Jason Bay !!
Trade Buchholz !!!
If Jed proves himself now
One of them is getting traded.

This is horrible.
I hope this isn’t true.

I think the article is basically saying that he's signed, pending a physical
Then again, I’m only in Spanish 1. (Which sucks, because students in Spanish 2 and above can be in the summer exchange program, and I’d love to go to Spain. Guess I’ll have to wait until after sophomore year…)

It is. Here's a google translation:
Clarifying the rumors. Marco Scutaro joined the roster of the Boston Red Sox, said sources close to the player.
Are unknown terms of the contract.
During the afternoon the major leaguers told a regional newspaper that the team asked for his medical record to expedite the recruitment process.
Scutaro, at age 34, comes from a great year with the Toronto Blue Jays. He batted .282, scored 100 runs, belted 12 homers and had a base percentage of .379.

Though at this point I don’t see it not happening given all the signs.

Last year a shady Dominican paper
reported Manny signed with the Yanks. It’s all bs.

Damn apparently it's been confirmed by Ed PRice

One hopes.
They’re going to start him in AA whether he’s ready for it or not, probably, since translator/buddy Exposito is there. Better to ease the cultural transition than find the perfect spot for him in A+.

If he keeps buddy-ing with Expo
My money on Iglesias having AT LEAST 4-5 tattoos before reaching the majors.

Expo has cleaned up some.
Dunno if the tattoos were part of that. But since the suspension he’s been a stand-up guy.

I was trying to think of that.
I knew there was some sort of Central American newspaper/Manny BS story from last year, but I couldn’t remember it.

I will only not be pissed about this
If we sign Matt Holliday now. I don’t think Holliday is the best thing for the team necessarily, but I’m ok with giving up a 2nd round pick for Scutaro, but not a 1st rounder!
Well, it's only a 2-year deal
At least we won’t be paying someone else to deal with him in 2012. Now I’m just hoping the money is cheap, Holliday’s coming, and he can produce roughly what he did in 2009.
