Red Sox let Anderson go; agree to deal with Bonser - MLB - Yahoo! Sports
Brian Anderson is gone as the Sox can most likely find a suitable replacement through free agency. A suitable AND better replacement.
Boof Bonser also agreed to a one-year, $650,000 contract. Good deal for a guy that could be useful for the Sox.

I'm annoyed with giving up Province for Bonser.
Boof has proven he’s not likely to ever be good. Province could still end up surprising people.

I never heard of him until the trade. I don’t think his numbers were all that impressive in Portland. He was also a bit older for the level. I think there are other options in the Sox system that are and will be better than Province.

Sure, it's likely. But there's possibility for him to breakout. I wouldn't say the same against Bonser.
Especially now that we see some of the non-tenders like Matt Caps and D.J. Carrasco
