While there had been some speculation that the Red Sox might choose not to tender a contract to Casey Kotchman by Saturday’s deadline to do so, multiple major-league sources say that the Red Sox have absolutely no plans to part ways with the first baseman.

I hate it, but Kotchman might be the starter next year
Boras might will ask a ransom for Beltre.
"Why not us?"
i hope that we do part ways with kotchman
really good trade bait.
Wasn't Kotchman brought on partially because Lowell couldn't always play 3B and we needed someone to cover 1B when Youk had to move?
With Lowell gone and potentially Beltre being on board, not quite as much need for Casey anymore.

I think he's probably trade bait
if anyone will give us much of anything for him. He might stick around though, just cause he’s an amazing 1B defensively and a good backup is good to have. If we do keep him though, if Lars recovers, I expect at the ASB to have Kotchman traded for whatever and see Lars come up
