I'd take the rested players

Over the tired ones who played meaningless games with a playoff berth clinched. They needed to be nearly perfect while the Yanks play .500 ball for the Sox to tie the division.
They rested their players to get ready for the postseason. Perfect decision if you ask me.

He struck out only 3 and was giving line drives and hard hit groudball, Let’s face it they’re playing better, we were lucky to be still in the game!

terrible fielding by Ellsbury

In a 1-run game, with runners on 1st and 2nd, it’s his job to make sure that nothing gets over his head. He failed.

He’s really got to make an effort to learn how to field better. He’s haphazard and relies on his speed far too much.

Nothing’s over until we decide it is!

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

Hell, no!

-Forget it, he’s rolling.

And it ain’t over now.

’Cause when the going gets tough…

(Patriotic instrumental music)

the tough get going! Who’s with me?

Let’s go! Come on!

(Papelbon screaming)

(Tense instrumental music)

What the f*** happened
to the Red Sox I used to know?

Where’s the spirit?

Where’s the guts?

This could be the greatest night
of our lives… but you’re gonna let it be the worst.

"We’re afraid to go with you, Pap,we might get in trouble."

(Shouting) Just kiss my ass from now on.

Papelbon’s right.

Psychotic… but absolutely right.

We have got to take these bastards.

We could fight them with conventional weapons.

That could take years…cost millions of lives.

In this case…I think we have to go all out.

I think this situation absolutely requires…

The biggest problems this season were the gambles on the starting pitching.

In hindsight, the low-risk, high-reward move turned out to be a disaster on Theo’s part.

The struggling offense I can’t quite explain. It always seems to be one hit short of a big inning.

not much different than rays series last year

this team really needs a major infusion of young slugging. I love Papi and Lowell, but the Sox need hitters who are more dangerous. They need a real sluger – somebody much better than Youk and Bay.

I understand that “Manny in his prime” is not something that happens that often, but the Sox haven’t had a real slugger come up through the system in well over a decade.

on the upside

Beckett pitched really well

Ellsbury had a nice game at the plate

Papelbon looked good

Lowell’s defense has been tight, AGon too

Martinez threw out a runner, and looked good behind the plate – some nice framing
