The Yankees are in the ALCS for the first time since — ahem — 2004. But Yankee Stadium may not be sold out tonight for Game 1 against the Angels. That would be embarrassing for the business side of the organization.
Whether it's the economy or the outrageous ticket prices, there were still 6,000 seats available as of last night through the team. Just a few minutes ago, to see what was out there, I pulled up four tickets on Yankees.com for section 221. OK, so they were $431 each. But they were there.
Good seats still available - Extra Bases - Red Sox blog
Never would have happened in Fenway. Good fans, bad team (OK, so not bad, just not good enough).

Perhaps the Noreaster
sitting over NYC has something to do with it.

I don't think so
Considering tickets went on sale when?
Fenway Park, no doubt, would be sold out with a Nor’Easter in centerfield.

Stupid jokes aside, I have no idea why there are so many tickets available.
They routinely lead the league in attendance every year (although Anaheim squeaked by them this year). Why it is not carrying over to the post season I don’t know. Probably the ridonkulous ticket prices. And of course leave it to Pete Abraham to find stuff to talk shit about regarding the Yankees . He made a pretty good career out of it for himself.

New year, new stadium
Ticket prices are still ridiculous in the “New” Yankee Stadium. I would think it would have been sold out had this been last year…

"lead the league in attendance" is misleading, relative
"You know," Girardi said, shrugging his shoulders, "it didn't work."

Whenever I watch, the seats behind home plate are never sold out.
Why not sell them at lower prices, instead of leaving them empty? It sends the message that “we’re so good that nobody can offord us”.

They slashed the prices 50%
They were still a thousand bucks.
Oops
