I must have a sweet-tooth, because I taste nothing wrong.

Ok, so let's get this straight
You see nothing wrong in taking a franchise’s single-worst moment—the moment, mind you, that later put an otherwise good, honorable man on a completely downward death spiral that led to his mental break and suicide—and rubbing it in that franchise’s face?
How would you have reacted if we’d brought out those guys who abused Ted Williams’ frozen head to throw out the first pitch?
RIP Nick Adenhart.

I would think that the franchise's single worst moment...
…would probably be the death of Nick Adenhart.
Correlating Henderson’s homer and Moore’s suicide is a HUGE stretch. Dave Henderson hit an important home run against the Angels that has been replayed countless times on television. Are the networks also insensitive to poor Donnie Moore’s plight? Nonsense. That home run was a baseball action, and 20+ years later, the Red Sox chose to recall that baseball action as their team was in a similar situation.
Donnie Moore shot his wife in front of his kids before shooting himself in front of his son. Don’t give me that “honourable man” bullshit and pin it all on Dave fucking Henderson. Get off your high-horse.
Goddamn that DeMarlo Hale.

Plus, the suicide came three years later
After he was cut by the Royals, which his daughter said had more to do with the murder-suicide than the 86 playoffs.

You're right about Adenhart
I was thinking more in terms of team performance and heartbreak, but fine—the second-worst moment in franchise history. The point remains—the only purpose to bringing out Dave Henderson is to drudge up all those memories and pain and “remember how we used to take you out behind the woodshed and thrash your asses?”. Thus, classless.
Think of it this way. Imagine you’re playing the MFY yet again and about to sweep them out of the postseason, and they bring out Aaron Boone to throw out the first pitch. What point does that serve, other than to show yet again that the Yankees are assholes?
Further, the point I was making about Moore is the game itself is widely regarded as sending him into the deathspin that ultimately ended with the attempted murder and suicide. Yes he made that choice himself—but, again, what the hell point is served in trudging that whole experience up again and taunting us with it? Really, what point? I’d love to know.
RIP Nick Adenhart.

Or, it was to inspire the Sox by bringing in...
The guy who pulled off one of the miracle comebacks against y’all. They could have brought back Manny, but that could have been a little messy.
And I would have no problem with Boone throwing out the first pitch.

It's mojo. That's how they choose people to throw the first pitch in this type of game.
You act like Dave Henderson ISN’T a hero of a world series team. He’s there, at Fenway, for the Red Sox and there fans. Down to their last strike, the team came back, he was there to show we could do it too.
Now, we didn’t, but way to be self-centered and assume it was more about attacking the Angels than boosting the Red Sox.

I could see how someone could interpret it that way.
Although the proper equivalent would have been dragging Babe’s body out to throw out the first pitch of Game 7 of the 2004 ALCS, in my mind.

All right, all right
When you put it that way, fine. But excuse us for—given the history and the trauma—not thinking about it that way when one of our biggest demons came waltzing out onto the field. When you put it in perspective, it makes sense.
RIP Nick Adenhart.

Ironic that the Angels had to face their demons?
