am cleaning closets & stuff
but keeping an eye on the game and felt some pitches to Vlad were too high but I gues Vlad swings at it all anyway

1-2-3
And no patience from our hitters. We gotta wear their starters out and get to the bullpen (the Angels #1 weakness).
Tough loss last afternoon USG
But I could have told people that Tolzien really is not very good. At least the Defense looked strong.
by Gnick on Oct 11, 2009 12:32 PM EDT reply actions
He crumbled under the horseshoe pressure.
It’s incredibly depressing to hold them to 10 offensive points and lose by 18.
by Ben Buchanan on Oct 11, 2009 12:33 PM EDT up reply actions
Especially considering
the time of possession difference.
Well, when you think about how it happened, there'd better be a huge ToP difference.
by Ben Buchanan on Oct 11, 2009 12:38 PM EDT up reply actions
True.
Quick defensive scores will give the ball right back to your offense. The Badger offense seemed to be able to sustain drives, had some nice 3rd down conversions, just couldn’t score.
Alas
Oh well, we went in expecting a loss more or less. We’re still on the way to a big bounce back season.
by Ben Buchanan on Oct 11, 2009 12:43 PM EDT up reply actions
Thats our offense for you
We can pound it with John Clay and Zach Brown but we really don’t have much flash to our O. No real big play threats (I don’t consider Nick Toon one) and very predictable play calling (the fake FG be damned).
by Gnick on Oct 11, 2009 12:43 PM EDT up reply actions
Zach Brown can pound it
But he has to cough up the ball at the end of each run, so not a huge plus.
by Ben Buchanan on Oct 11, 2009 12:46 PM EDT up reply actions
Well, I'm a
Michigan fan, so we do have an offense, but it’d be nice to have a defense that doesn’t let the opposition convert 3rd and 24s on a regular basis.
its alright
lets focus on the third out

Man...
I am getting SOOO tired of these umpires. I was a bit more tolerant at Angels Stadium (home field advantage) but is just silly.
And this guys calling a ball one pitch and damn near same location next time is a strike.
On the internet I could HEAR that ball hit the bat (distinctive crack of the bat)
Bad calls all around.
not looking pretty on

I honestly hope we don't have to next year.
I don’t know that Papi wants to keep on going if he can’t play at a reasonable level.
by Ben Buchanan on Oct 11, 2009 12:59 PM EDT up reply actions
Will we want him?
I mean he has been in decline for some time now, I think the second half of this year was more an outlier than a predictor of future production.

Kazir keeps attacking with
A straightaway first pitch strike, and the Sox keep letting it go by.
We should be nailing that pitch. That first pitch to Papi was a HR waiting to happen.

You can never have too much pitching.
Yes
But it’s a nationally televised game, so the NESN crew doesn’t call it. The fact that Don Orsillo is in the booth is just a matter of TBS (oddly) choosing him to do the series.

For some reason...
that reminds me of The Untouchables.
They send one of our guys to the hospital, we send two of their guys to the morgue.
I hope the Twins win at least one game
It is too much to ask that they come from behind and beat the MFY.
I am so sick of MFY fans yapping. Can’t shut them up now, I hope they experience the same heartache they felt in 2001. They were sooooooo smug. They just KNEW the MFY were going to roll over AZ but the Monday after the series, you couldn’t find a Yankee fan.

Where we trade away all our players for Japanese players and attempt to convince Daisuke that every game is a WBC game.
He’ll start 162 and throw only shutouts.

Personally
I would die to see Ichiro in a Sox uniform. God knows he will never see a World Series with the Mariners.
For pitching prospects I would love to see an aggresive push to try and bring over Darvish. That kid has some nasty stuff. Look him up.

Nice work Clay
He is pitching his heart out. Not to shabby for first time under the big lights of the playoffs in an elimination game. Gotta love his composure under pressure (how many times so far has he gotten out of jams?!).
He looked freaked after the HR.
But a lot better last inning.
As for pitching his heart out, how ’bout that 96 MPH velocity?

Buchholz has the "OMG baserunners" problem again?
I thought that’s one of the things they sent him to Pawtucket to fix.
Bard is up
And will be lights out!
Clay pitched a great game. Crappy ending I know, but he did fantastic for 5 innings against a tough line up.
This is where is would provide comfort to have Tek catching. Keep Bard calm etc...
You can never have too much pitching.
Actually, I thought Martinez did a good job calming Buch down a bit
Sorry to say it, but Tek’s done as our everyday Catcher
He will be a coach someday
And I wouldnt be surprised if he is groomed to be first the Red Sox pitching coach, then eventually coach. He is that good at calling games, and such a inspirational person in the dugout.
