2 wins does not equal 3 wins
which you need to win a best-of-five series.

Nope.
Now that we’re back at Fenway, our offense is gonna get goin, then the skys the limit.
Well, Yankee fans, there is ONE thing we can agree on: We're all smarter than Madonna.

I don't care if we're going straight over a cliff,
I’m still on the “Next Stop: ALCS!” Sox bus

This is just the ideal way to crush the little hearts of the LA^3 fans
Two wins at home, and one in the IOU state. That’ll learn em.

We will overcome my freinds!
This is a proud team with a fan base that knows about beating the odds

As a Sox fan
No, not yet but it will be in one game or two. The offense has just been stagnant and as inconsistent as they come all year and they’re in the middle of another dry spell at the worst possible time. They may get 8 or 9 runs next game then come right back and get shut out. Where’s the heart at?

And you call yourself a Sox fan
It is NEVA OVAHHHHH!!! What are you one of those fair weather fans who only starting enjoying the Sox after Fever Pitch?
Well I can remember MANY seasons of disappointment, and I never gave up hope and always believed they can come back and win it all.
We are a 3 game winning streak away from the ALDS, and I believe we will be there.

I see where you are coming from
“What are you one of those fair weather fans who only starting enjoying the Sox after Fever Pitch?”. 1) Hope that wasnt a joke because it wasnt funny 2) Never saw it 3) Talk what you know, please dont judge if you dont know me, its easy for anyone to call anyone a bandwagoner but there is no way tell who is really a fan so i wont waste energy trying to prove anything. I didnt just say they lost i gave my reason and if that isnt good enough….HOLD THESE NUTS!!!

Actually it is pretty easy to tell who's a bandwagon fan when there icon is of the Atlanta Falcons and their fans of the Red Sox.

Excuse me.
My heart isn’t available at Costco or Sams, sir. I can root for whatever team I want to, regardless of geography.

I agree with that...
but I feel there should be a reason behind why people cheer for the teams they do. Not because one of them wins or because they for no reason just like that team or their colors. I feel that say if it is your hometown team, or they were your hometown team but you moved, or you were bought up growing to like that team because it was passed down from your parents or relatives, something that has an “actual and good” reason for you to be a fan of that team.

Exactly bs.uf15bosox9bears23 said it
Im not a Red Sox fan becuase im a Falcon fan? No point indulging your ignornace, it just so happens baseball is my third favorite sport. My heart is also not available at Costco or Sams. Or wal-mart for that matter

No... I never said you and bs.uf15bosox9bears23 weren't Red Sox fans...
You obviously are a Red Sox fans because you are on this site, but it does’t mean you aren’t a band wagon fans… I really would like to hear how both you and bs.uf15bosox9bears23 got to being Red Sox fans.

My mom and her siblings all went to school with Timmeh...
So we kinda followed him, especially when he was playing for Pittsburgh, since that’s where my grandmother and grandfather are from. I started liking baseball right around when he became a Sox, and it’s impossible to not fall in love with this team.
I will admit that if I don’t usually give two sneezes about a sport (NBA and NHL, for instance), I usually just pick a team once it gets interesting and follow them. So yeah, bandwagon when I don’t follow the sport closely.

You said...
To the question “Is it over?”
As a Sox fan
No, not yet but it will be in one game or two.
So you are predicting that the Red Sox will be eliminated…correct? In a game or two.
Now I can remember many instances where the Sox pitching was horrible the first few games (hell 04 vs the MFY they gave up HOW many runs?) and yet in the last 4 games pitching was stellar which is why we came back.
Lackey and Weaver pitched great games and had good stuff. Good pitching ALWAYS beats a good offense, that is baseball 101.
And you dont have to prove anything to me, your attitude and lack of faith shows me all I need to know. I imagine if this was the late 80s early 90s you would be wearing a different ballcap and rooting for a different team.
True fans believe in and stick with their teams through the good times AND the bad, and always have faith things will turn around.

Why does it feel like it's over
You’d think after coming back vs. the A’s, Yankees, Indians (And the great comeback in Game 5 vs. the Rays and near comeback) we’d know better and be confident going back to Fenway
So why does it feel like the series over. Don’t ask me why but this Sox team just doesn’t feel like it did the last 2years. 2007 I was certain going in we’d win the series. Last year it was less but I still very confident. This year, I thought this would be a tough series. And I really didn’t (Still don’t) think we’d even get to the world series
Still Kazmir’s hit or miss and was 0-2 last year in the LCS vs. us and we can throw Lester and Beckett games 4 and 5. If the offense comes alive we can do this. But I’m not ozzing with confidence

In 2003
The Sox were down 0-2 to the A’s in 2003 and looked worse than they do now. They came back to win 3-2. 0-3 to the Yanks in 2004 and came back to win 4-3. 1-3 to the Indians in 2007 and won 4-3. Down 9 runs in an elimination game to TB in 2008 and came back to win and force a 7 game series.
Is it an uphill battle? Of course. Is the series over… not by a long shot. The Angels have a better team than the last 3 times (2004, 2007 and 2008) they fell to the Sox, but they are not the ’27 Yankees…or even the 2007 Red Sox. If the Sox win game 3, then anything can happen.

It's not over because it's not.
Simple as that. We’re a good team, they’re a good team. It’s entirely possible any of the four possible results (W-L wise) of this series comes to fruition.

I am a lifelong Angels fan and have seen every inning of each of the 19 Angels-Red Sox post season games played so far. I am not willing to start gloating just yet. It is hard to be too confident against a team that has already come back from 2-0 deficits in the ALDS twice (and it has only been done 4 times) not to mention coming back from a 3-0 hole to the Yankees in the ALCS (the only team to ever do that). Whether the Red Sox come back or not, your past dominance over us has made these now-regular post-season match-ups between us the most exciting baseball games I have ever watched. It feels like every pitch is of the utmost importance ,even with a lead. I fear even the quickest of bathroom breaks because of my beleif that the Sox may have scored five runs in the time I was gone. If we happen to go on to the next round, or even the World Series, it would have been empty if we didn’t have to go through you first. I want to say thank you to the Red Sox for giving us our first true rivalry (Even if we are not your main rivals).Win or lose, I hope we continue to meet in the first round of the playoffs. It just wouldn’t be as much fun to play teams like the Blue Jays or Rays.
And as for all the Red Sox fans out there. We should be your second favorite team after the Sox. how can you not love a team that always loses to you and always beats the Yankees.
Since I feel it is obligatory to say some bad things about the enemy, what is it with your pitching staff all wearing those gay-ass woven necklaces. Are the all still juniors in high school and part of the surfer-stoner clubs? And ,I’m sorry, Josh Beckett seems like a douche.
by Lyman Bostock on Oct 11, 2009 1:30 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
About the necklaces:
1) This high school junior takes offense to that. :)
2) It’s supposed to be some energy-magnetism stuff. Pretty lame, but it looks cool to them, so whatever.
3) I define a dbag as someone who thinks they are worth more than they actually are – Beckett is a pretty damn good pitcher and he doesn’t like having his work messed up because of incompetence. That may strike you as dbag-ness, but to me it’s more of the misunderstood-artist thing. Paps, on the other hand, is probably the epitome of the hate the Red Sox get.

1) This means that you take offense to being compared to a member of the Red Sox pitching staff.
2) I do research in the field of particle physics with an emphasis on muon-catalyzed hydrogen fusion (not as a viable, comercially available process for cold fusion but rather as a possibility of high density, ultra -heavy, mesonic fusion processes that may take place in black holes or the big bang). Therefore, the belief in this so called “energy-magnetism” bullshit comes off as childish and only appropriate for a highschool junior.
3) No real validation for that statement. I would probably love him if he did for us what he has done for the Sox. He just reminds me of the type of guy who would be sitting front row at a Dane Cook show.

Oh...kay...
Well, at least we agree about Dane Cook being lame. I apologize for not being intimately familiar with the inner workings of your chosen career – all I meant is that it’s probably one of those products that claims to be able to give you more energy and stuff like that.
And I probably sound like even more of a moron now, so I’ll shut up.

No you don't.
And his point 3 makes no sense. Sitting front row of a Dane Cook show is a screaming chick. He reminds me of the type of guy who would beat the balls of Dane Cook if he met him in a bar.
But, if his research on the Big Bang gives him greater insight on a faux-hemp necklace, well then he’s earning his paycheque, ain’t he?
Goddamn that DeMarlo Hale.

Well, I was being semi-sarcastic.
I could have pointed out that I was taking offense to the connotations he gave being a high school junior, but he’s probably too worried about creating mini-black holes to care about semantics and stuff.
