Here's a sinister thought: Varitek to the Yankees. The chances probably are slim, but the Yankees need to add a catcher due to their uncertainty over Jorge Posada, who is recovering from shoulder surgery. Varitek, 36, might recoil at the notion of joining the Red Sox's biggest rival, and the Yankees might prefer to spend on pitching. But because the Yankees already have signed three other Type-A free agents, Varitek would cost them only a fourth-round pick ...

Doesn't seem likely now.
But it’s hardly sinister. More like… beneficial. The Yankees would be getting a bad backup, and the Sox would be getting a draft picks. Sounds like a clear Win-Lose to me.

Tek's new price tag
For a while, things were quiet and one could have speculated that Tek (and Boras) were still llooking for $10M per year… but now that the Sox have announced their offer ($5M w/ 2010 option) I wonder if other teams will throw an offer on the table… $5M is chump change for the Yankees.
Bottom Line: The Yanks have enough offense to negate another .220 season from Tek… scary to envision.
If the MFY want to give Tek $10M, let 'em
That’s a lousy contract for a team to give Tek even if he starts, and it’s even worse given that he’d be a backup for them.
On the plus side...
It certainly would put an end to the “Tek is/we are being disloyal?” threads. On the other hand, I’d prefer my juicy first-round compensatory pick…

Wouldn't be first round.
The Yankees have already signed 3 type A free agents, and as Varitek is ranked lower than all of them, we would receive a 4th round pick should the Yankees sign him.
Hence...
…“on the other hand.” But yes, I could have been much clearer…

Tex would help Tek.

I think they would make a new version of Village People
A-Rod would be the construction worker, Jeter the police officer, Robinson Cano the G.I, Tex the biker, Posada the chief and Tek could be the cowboy!

No skills whatsoever
I’m pissed at my computer because I wanna play Out of the Park 9, and I don’t believe in paying for games.

You have put an absurd amount of effort into something that is ultimately pointless. You are the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
"no1 has time to read your long comments, are you writing a book?"
Yeah, I know. I still can’t believe I actually spent time to Photoshop this.

Dude you need to get a girlfriend.
Rec’d, though.
Well, I'll appreciate for you to keep my zingers outta your mouth!
If he could stand looking at the Village People long enough to Photoshop all of those heads on...
he maybe looking for the other gender.
