Come playoff time...
I would like to have the Sox throw this lineup out there….
Ellsbury-L-CF
Pedroia-R-2B
Ortiz-L-DH
Youkilis-R-3B
Anderson-L-1B
Bay-R-LF
Drew-L-RF
Saltalamacchia-S-C
Lowrie-S-SS
"Why not us?"

Even on the chance Anderson were ready for prime-time at that point
You’d no doubt see he and Drew flipped in that potential lineup. Hell. Drew might have to leadoff this season too.

Yuck.
I don’t like the thought of Drew leading off. Let’s hope Ellsbury can adjust and become the leadoff hitter everyone thought he would be. If he gets going, that 1-2 punch (Ellsbury, Pedroia) are going to be terrorizing AL pitchers for a lot of years to come.

What's wrong with JD Drew leading off?
get on base too much or something? I’ve been saying this a lot, but there is no reason to have our 7th best hitter lead off every game.

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

Agreed
JD is a great leadoff man. I do like ellsbury and think he will produce this year, I just don’t like seeing him steal in front of guys like pedroia, ortiz and youk. I mean Ped is a doubles machine and even JD could score from first on a double. It just seems like a waste to see him stealing with such great hitters in front of him.
If he does leadoff, I hope Tito keeps his legs more under control this year.

It’s truly pointless to keep Taco leading off unless he starts hitting it again.
Mother---- him and John Wayne!

And even more importantly, JD will probably, every season he is in Boston, be among the top 2-3 Red Sox in OBP. He should be batting in the top 5 in the order at least, and if that means leadoff, I’m all for it.

Although it's sad that Bay is batting 6th or 7th in almost everyone's batting order.
We have too many good hitters, I suppose.

Well, I'll appreciate for you to keep my zingers outta your mouth!

Gets my vote.
Drew is an excellent choice for leadoff. On-base skills par excellence. Decent speed. Decent power.
But discussing the lineup order is analagous to discussing what cookies you’re going to have at your next team meeting: it’s essentially trivial (really, it’s only a few runs over a season) yet everyone feels strongly about it.

Decent power?
Wasn’t he supposed to be like Mantle powerful? Or Bo? Before injury of course.

Such a delicious analogy, brit.

I don’t even know what a cookie is. But I’ve got an American-English dictionary next to me and I’m struggling through…

Sorta.
Except Cano is forced to eat grounders ’cause he sucks.

If the Sox have to use that line-up
They might miss the playoffs. The earliest ETA for Anderson would be August/September. Salty probably isn’t an everyday catcher. Also, if Mike Lowell is hurt, Lowrie would play 3B and Lugo would be the everyday SS.
I think Anderson will be a stud, and I’m happy the Sox didn’t spend a ton on Teixeira. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.
