HoF
The results are in, and Jim Rice has received 76.4% of the vote and is now in the Hall of Fame. #14 will now be retired. Justice! Rickey Henderson also got into the HoF, basically unanimously. I wonder if Rickey will have a Red Sox cap on his plaque...
What do you guys think about this? Who'd they miss? I'm thinking Dale Murphy, Bert Blyleven, and Andre Dawson are getting hosed here. Maybe Tim Raines and Jesse Orosco should get in someday.
Mark McGwire got about 22% of the vote. Too many?
In other non-Hall of Fame news, Roger Clemens is sweating bullets...

Blyleven should be in.
’Nuff said.
Well, I'll appreciate for you to keep my zingers outta your mouth!

Is the number retiring official?
For those children who claimed they’ve been a fan of their favorite team all their life, or even since they were about four or five years old: bullshit. There’s always that certain event or certain player that draws to the sport and draws you to a team. For me, Nomar Garciaparra was that reason. - Nick Coviello: I Try To See Rocco, But All I Think Is Nomar; 1/9/09

No
But the rules that the Red Sox have set are basically once you’re in the Hall of Fame, and played with the team for at least ten years, your number is retired.

Yup. I hope Rice’s number is retired Opening Day. That’d be nice.

And Lynn and Evans.
Demand that they get into the HOF, no matter what.
