Billy Wagner out most of '09 (Trades)
According to this article from MLB Trade Rumors, Billy Wagner will be out for the rest of this season, and most of the '09 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery.
We could send them anyone of our relievers [read MDC] for a young catcher. I like Josh Thole, who is in A+ ball this year. He's 21 and has hit a few homers this season. He played mostly 1B before this season, and still plays there every once in a while. He has thrown out 20/89 baserunners, a rate just under Tek's 16/69. His batting has improved this season over last year (from .267 to .300) and, while his slugging and OPS aren't mindblowing, they are improving. He has a .994 FP as a catcher this year, just under Tek's (.995). He might be worth looking at.
Please tell me what you think, and don't be mean about it.

All of this is plausible, from what I can tell.
Unless the Mets are stupid enough to sign Krod, they would most likely agree to something like this. He isn’t their best catching prospect, so it’s not like it’s a threat to their future. We might get some extra stuff in return, too.
Remember when we were kids and we mixed sodas together and called them "suicides"? It was OK though, because Dr. Pepper was always there.
I'm sure MDC could get us him, especially with a strong finish.
But I struggle to find a difference between this guy and Exposito, except that Exposito (by virtue of his hitting performance this year and having been catching more or less full-time for a longer period of time) is probably a better fit for us.
"Are you a real doctor, or a doctor like Dr. Pepper is a doctor?"
True, just trying to be constructive with news.
And you can never have too many young catchers

Not sure how I feel about...
…Thole being born the day after the Sox lost the 1986 Series.
"and THAT happened" -John Mayer announcing Pedrioa at-bat in Tokyo
Maybe he was supposed to be the soul of Fisk's home run reincarnated.

don't send a MLB pitcher for a A+ or AA catcher
I don’t care if it is Timlin or Aardsma, offering a major league bullpen pitcher for a minor leaguer is more of a sign of desperation. Trade the catcher for one or two other minor leaguers.
If the Sox wants to offer MDC or another reliever, they should get Shoppich or someone else who went through the Red Sox Farm System.
I said "and someone else."

I don't know if anyone is able
to pick up a good young catcher who is already in the Bigs. That kind of guy is too valuable for teams to trade.
I would look into the possibility of acquiring Anderson, a top catching prospect with the Cardinals who is going nowhere with Yadier Molina in St. Louis for the long haul.I
Meanwhile, I hear you about MDC. What a disappointment he is this year. But……still a great prospect for us or somebody. Wish I could figure that guy out. (I imagine Francona does, too!)
Like I said, he isn't the best catching prospect that the Mets have...
That “honor” still goes to Fernando Martinez: http://metsprospecthub.blogspot.com/2008/09/reviewing-pre-season-top-prospect-list.html

oops, my bad...
I meant Francisco Pena, #10 on that list.

Let's send the Mets Paps instead of MDC.
(/sarcasm, I know he still kicks @$$, but i’m mad about last night’s game)
