Doubleheader? Sunday. MFYs @ Sox. 1:35 EDT

New York Yankees @ Boston Red Sox

Also, keep an eye out for Johnny Pesky's retired number ceremony before the game, if you have NESN.

Mussina (going for 20 wins?) v. Daisuke in Game 1.

Sidney Ponson (going for embarassment?) v. Wake in Game 2.

Rain on the docket as well? Boo to the rain.

JD Drew will supposedly start Game 2 in RF. Even a PH appearance from Mike Lowell could be big, positive news, though it seems we shouldn't get our hopes up about even that.

Last day of the season — what will we see? Here’s my hope: A healthy team!

by Randy Booth on Sep 28, 2008 1:13 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Agreed

Although I don’t have much hope that Lowell or Drew will be healthy for the division series. The Sox will need their starters to be very sharp if they want to repeat. Without Drew or Lowell, the Angels are a much better offensive team than the Red Sox.

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

Pedroia!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHA….stupid Bo SOX. Pedroia can’t even beat the lowly Twins for batting champ!

by NoSox on Sep 28, 2008 5:22 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

And Justin Morneau can't even beat the 5'7 Pedroia.

JD Drew told the team doctor he broke his leg in two places. The doctor told him to stop going to those places.

FAIL

Remember when we were kids and we mixed sodas together and called them "suicides"? It was OK though, because Dr. Pepper was always there.

I guess my main hope is the same

everyone stays healthy and we get some positive results/news regarding Drew & Lowell.

by ccthemovieman on Sep 28, 2008 1:17 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

According to my neighbor who just called

here’s the other side of the coin.

The Tigers are on their way to sweeping the Rays. Had Francona pitched Dice-K and the Sox won Friday, a sweep today would have given them the pennant and home field in the first round of the playoffs, and maybe the second.

My friend is totally pissed. “You always go for first place, if you can get it,” he said.
I understand his point but I also can see Tito’s caution, too. (I think Tito is happy not to be put on the spot today regarding his lineups. He took the safe way out. Imagine his dilemma regarding to who is in the lineup and who rests if these games today meant something!)

by ccthemovieman on Sep 28, 2008 2:27 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

In order to do that

Tito would have had to pitch Beckett today, rather than rest him for the playoffs. I’d rather have a well-rested Beckett pitch Game 1 of the ALDS.

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

Afternoon All

Go Sox

yeah, CC- my dad said the same thing yesterday – but he also calls Francona “Fran Tarkenton” on many occasions…

No guarantees even with Dice K on the mound but it would have been nice to win the division again

"You know," Girardi said, shrugging his shoulders, "it didn't work."

I really, really, really don’t want Mussina to win his 20th game today.

"You know," Girardi said, shrugging his shoulders, "it didn't work."

by Drugs Delaney on Sep 28, 2008 3:10 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Dice-K looks good

He looks so much stronger and more confident than the did at the same time last year.

by ccthemovieman on Sep 28, 2008 3:14 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Probably because he is better rested

He spent a long stint on the DL this year.

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

by Drugs Delaney on Sep 28, 2008 3:19 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yeah, I think that month off

helped him, in the long run this year.

p.s. Mets in trouble: down 1-0, bases loaded, one out

by ccthemovieman on Sep 28, 2008 3:27 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Too bad

I want the Mets to make it. They still have a chance. The Cubs are up 1-0.

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

by Drugs Delaney on Sep 28, 2008 3:31 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

At this rate,

The Mets or Brewers will play at Shea tomorrow

Mets down 2-0
Brewers being one-hitted and losing 1-0 after six.

Same here

I’m a fan of David Wright and Santana, for that reason alone I want ’em to take it.

Mother---- him and John Wayne!

by MerryGoByeBye on Sep 28, 2008 3:43 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

could that ball have been caught?

Drew didn’t look like he was moving too well.

by ccthemovieman on Sep 28, 2008 3:34 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I missed it

But Drew didn’t look too good in the OF against Cleveland.

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

Saw the replay

It looked like Drew may have had a play.

MLBtv dead here

I’m on gameday. Let’s just keep Moose from winning 20th, okay?

Mother---- him and John Wayne!

okay with me

cheap 3-run for NY doesn’t help things. Maybe Youk can return the favor!

headed out to watch 4:15 NFL game

with friends.

Bring home a winner here, guys!

Bummer Dice-K lasted only 4 innings

But it was probably a good idea taking him out so that he can get rest before the ALDS (starts on Wednesday, October 1 in Anaheim).

Somewhat pissed off that the Wankees trashed us twice in a row this series, although one might blame the rain and the impending ALDS for detracting from the Red Sox pitching and lineup.

Much as I hate the Wanks, I reckon all Red Sox fans are almost soley focusing on the ALDS now, and so am I.

But I sure hope the MFY won’t get the very last laugh this season—GO SOX, TRASH ’EM IN THE LAST GAME!!!

GO SOX!

Forever Red Sox, screw all those pink-hatted babes, 'got no family, 'got no friends, 'got no life--RED SOX I LIVE FOR THIS.

No laughing matter

NY has to know these games mean nothing to Boston, so I doubt they will be overly excited. They got what they wanted: Mussina winning his 20th. Props to him. He had a good year…..but I’m glad his team didn’t!!
I don’t know if we got much out of this game. I expect we’ll see a lot of second-stringers tonight.

by ccthemovieman on Sep 28, 2008 7:19 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

uh…is there another game tonight?

by spinz on Sep 28, 2008 6:57 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

There should be

I think game time is 7:35……….Wakefield vs. Ponson.

anyone here for the 2nd game?

If so, evening all!

It's funny we have so little interest in a Sox/MFY game

I don’t even have the volume up; last I checked it was 1-0 Sox

Look out MFY, Jonathan Van Every is coming for you!

What a line-up tonight. I haven’t seen such a collection of talent since the early 90s!

OK this game is putting me to sleep

good night all

The MFY fans have the entire off season to catch up on their beauty sleep

I guess Tito didn't want to win any of these games

….brings in Aardsma – in the ninth to get the “save.”

Right.
