GT: Indians @ Red Sox
Cleveland Indians at Boston Red Sox, Sep 25, 2008 7:05 PM EDT
The final game before the Red Sox and Yankees finish out the season in Fenway Park. A series where the Red Sox will be waiting for October and for the first time in too long the Yankees will be watching football in October.
Tonight's matchup:
The starters:
And the lineups:
GAME NOTES: After starting the game last night, JD Drew is not in the lineup tonight. No word on why ... Also, no David Ortiz. Look at our No. 1 through 3 hitters. Would anyone have expected this in March? ... Here's hoping the Rays lay down and finish out the season without a win.

Don’t count on this happening too soon. The weather is likely to be horrible all this weekend. How will the games be handled if 2 or even 3 games with NY are rained out?? Will they just be not played, or is that a no no??
If they get rained out, they won't replay them
There’s no reason to make them up.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

What about ? catching the Rays
Detroit beat the Rays today, so it is not over yet!

If we lose one, or they win one, no point.
Remember when we were kids and we mixed sodas together and called them "suicides"? It was OK though, because Dr. Pepper was always there.
Hey people.
I got’s chemistry HW, so I will be a bit slow. Fight off the Rays if they come on here.

Lucky you.

The Mets are losing again
I want them to make the playoffs because I think the ultimate burn for the MFY fan would be the Sox, Dodgers (Torre), and Mets in the post-season and the MFY at home.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.
Hmm... I know a lot of Mets fans.
They’d be happy if they finally made it back. I want Zona/Fish in too, so the burn is worse.
Remember when we were kids and we mixed sodas together and called them "suicides"? It was OK though, because Dr. Pepper was always there.
eh
The Willie Randolph thing was ugly & Pedro’s there – I don’t wish them well
I do love that the Dodgers an in under Torre
"You know," Girardi said, shrugging his shoulders, "it didn't work."
( Joe Girardi on pitching to Manny Ramirez with first base open)
I never liked Randolph and thought he was a bad manager
But the firing, while justified based on performance, was botched. Petey will always be one of my favorite Sox of all time. That said, I have no special love for the Mets. I occasionally root for them because of our mutual hatred of the MFY.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

Nah
He’s rusty and out of shape. His legs were sore after last night. Also, with a back injury, you never know when Drew will be unable to play. I’m hoping for the best, but I’m not counting on Drew.

Drew is constantly injured.
Has anybody ever accused him of PEDs? Or did his pedigree help nullify any accusations?

one should think even with a headache! If one is paid ti use one’s body, then one should play with some pain in the body. Maybe Drew things they are paying him to use his head?? He is not much of a team player, IMO!

Come on Cora.
I was watching the “This Is Sportscenter” thing in TV Production today. It’s the show where they demonstrated the hour leading up to an 11PM Sportscenter broadcast. We had already watched the first hour, and we were watching the second hour, the one where they show Sportscenter as it is being filmed, with cameras in the control room, on set, and a PIP-like feed of what Sportscenter was showing if you were watching it on ESPN (the behind the scenes moved to ESPN2 before Sportscenter started, I think).
It was kinda funny, because a few of the baseball fans were trying to figure out what day, and year it was, based on the stories and which players were on different teams. I got it right first, because they mentioned the Mueller had hit 2 GS, one from each side of the plate. The show was on: 07/29/03.
They also showed a O’s/Twins highlight with Cora on the Twins. I nearly started crying.
BTW: The Sox had the last two players to hit two GS in a game, and they did it as Sox. http://www.baseball-almanac.com/feats/feats11.shtml

I think there is a good chance that the Sox will eventually face the Dodgers in the WS. With Nomar, Lowe, and especially Manny on the Dodgers, it just seems almost fated that it will turn out that way. Now that would be some interesting tension!
