GT: Red Sox @ Jays
Boston Red Sox at Toronto Blue Jays, Sep 21, 2008 1:07 PM EDT
Time to earn some momentum going into the stretch of the season. The Rays clinched a playoff berth last night, but that doesn't mean they'll win the AL East. Let's crush them and win this division.
And the standings:

Hey Drugs
Are we the lone rangers?
My last sig was too long, so my new one is: He who hesitates is a mediocre ambidextrious stupid person who thinks the Rays suck and stole Joe Maddon's shoes while thinking he was at a baseball game but was at church.
Hi
It looks that way so far.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

God
the TBS camera angle sucks. We know how to spell Matsuzaka. Good thing Dice-K is a beast on the road.

How was that not strike three?
Inglett took a step toward the dugout.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.
Yay!!! My router works now!!!
SOX on TBS, Bears v. Bucs on FOX, ME = HAPPY!
Remember when we were kids and we mixed sodas together and called them "suicides"? It was OK though, because Dr. Pepper was always there.
Yay!!!

Uh-oh
man on third, one out.

It's Dice-K.
We’re lucky it’s not 3-2, bases loaded, no outs
Remember when we were kids and we mixed sodas together and called them "suicides"? It was OK though, because Dr. Pepper was always there.
Dice-k is just setting up the double play
thats all!

and he retires the side!

Dice-K gets out of trouble
But he has thrown 45 pitches through two innings. Matsuzaka does not go deep enough in games. Going deep in games is very important. Dice-K does not give the Sox enough innings. Tim Wakefield, NG’s favorite whipping boy, averages over 6 innings a start. Dice-K averages just over 5.2 IP per start.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.
Why don't we allow him to pitch 150 per outing?
His throwing program allowed him to.
Remember when we were kids and we mixed sodas together and called them "suicides"? It was OK though, because Dr. Pepper was always there.
Because he does tire out
And over the course of the season he wears down. We saw that last year, which is why Tito isn’t letting him throw as many pitches as he did in 2007.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

Jacoby has a double and a triple

He'll get the single.
The homer is in doubt.

He almost had that in the first.
A slightly worse throw and BAM!

Taco half way to the cycle
He just needs a single and HR.

Typical
Dice-K at 100 pitches through 2.

You know
I believed that for a second. If there’s anyone who could ever have that without allowing a run, it’s Dice-K.

Nice quick inning for Dice-K
11 pitches – very efficient for him.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.
If he ever threw 3 pitches in an inning...
I think everyone would stand around on the field, expecting the a time warp…

He appears to be settling in

3 extra base hits today: a triple and two doubles.

I like DP's performance the last game of the second series in Tampa.
Comes up to plate needing single for the cycle, says “Screw it”, promptly doubles

Nice crease in Dice-K's hat.

I wouldn't mind the Pats scoring a few TDs

Nope
But he isn’t really ready and hasn’t played since mid-August. With 7 games left after today, he doesn’t have a lot of time to get ready before the playoffs begin.

Yep
And that back issue of him take some time to heal. I’d say we’re dealing with bigger injuries than the MFY this year (and there are people giving them a free pass because of the injuries).
Mother---- him and John Wayne!
by MerryGoByeBye on Sep 21, 2008 2:53 PM EDT up reply actions
I'm sick of hearing about MFY injuries
Schilling missed the whole season.
Beckett was on the DL twice.
Dice-K missed a month.
Wakefield also missed time on the DL.
Buchholz was on the DL too (that’s for Hughes and Kennedy, as Clay has won more games).
Lowell was on the DL twice and will need off-season surgery.
Papi missed a month and half and may need surgery as well.
Drew has missed over a month.
Lugo has missed half a season.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

no real concrete injury? What exactly ails him, back issues? Nothing specific?

so is revenue sharing
Drew was a bad risk- yeah the grand slam last year was huge AND ALL, but this is ridiculous- not his fault and not being mean spirited but who spends that kind of $ for a player to play as few games as Drew has. ..

If only Buch had the ability to bounce back from shit like Liriano did...
Liriano’s elbow snaps like a cheap rubber band, he comes back stronger
Buch’s mind snaps like a twig, he falls apart

hey
I’d have been here sooner but was overwhelmingly saddened when I realized today is the last game ever at MFY stadium - I couldn’t get out of bed.
I swear if I see one more things about that my head will snap – who cares it isnt as if the MFY are playing their last game ever ( I wish). It’s the Sunday Night ESPN game & a meaningless one
"You know," Girardi said, shrugging his shoulders, "it didn't work."

Still.
I’d like to see Jeter hit a walkoff GS, even if it had to be set up with IBB’s and a underhand meatball pitch…

I am obsessed with the idea of the MFY getting knocked today
I want every fan to leave that game in a miserable state
If the Sox win & the MFY lose, isn’t that it? The MLB standings are confusing- the WC shows 2 games for the MFY’s elimination – they have 7 games left including tonight’s & are 6.5 back – so if Sox win & MFY lose they will be 7.5 games out with 6 to play but even if bot teams win they are still 6.5 out with 6 to play – what does 2 represent in the standings?
