Better late then never right?
I'm not sure anyone on here even remembers me, but way back in May I was on here asking for help on planning a quick trip to Boston. It been over a month since I got back, but I finally got around to making a post on here. Not that anyone would really care to hear all of this, but I just had to share with someone...........
I have never been to a more incredible city than Boston. I have been to ALOT of places in the US, and no place has made an impression like Boston did. Taking this trip alone, it was a little difficult, but not too bad. I was pretty well prepared. From the minute I got onto the subway at the airport til the minute I left 2 days later, everyone was so nice and so helpful. Maybe I was just in the right part of town, I don't know. The hostel was pretty cool. It was clean and I felt safe walking to and from Fenway at night by myself, plus I met a huge array of cool people from all over the world there.
NOW LET ME GET TO FEWAY........ True, my team, the Oakland A's, totally sucked it this year, and did in fact, stay true to form while in Boston.....but I didn't care. I was at Fenway Park. I kid you not, I spent most of both games just sitting/standing/walking around with my jaw to the ground and taking hundred of pictures. It was just like a dream. I ventured into Fenway, alone, in head to toe Green and Yellow Oakland A's garb. I was wondering what kind of reaction I was going to get. Red Sox fans are insanely passionate about they're team, and I am equally as passionate about my team. I have never had a more pleasant experience at an opposing field as I did there. I guess if we were in contention, it could have been different, but if anything, I got tons of high fives and things for coming all the way from Arkansas to Boston just to see 2 baseball games. People were razzing me, but when I repsonded in good fun, they'd laugh, or say "Right on!"
NOW MY COMPARISON TO MY YANKEE STADIUM EXPERIENCE: You couldn't pay me enough to ever go back to Yankee Stadium. I took the good vibes from Boston with me to Yankee Stadium. It didn't matter. It is like a hostile war zone. The whole feeling is different. I was highly uncomfortable. I tried to talk to the people sitting next to me and they barely acknowledged me. Now I totally understand the feud between Boston and New York. It's so much more than just between baseball. The NY fans are rude and arrogant. I mean, any true fan, would not be cheering for Jason Giambi, who is an admitted cheater, and a liar. I was so repulsed I left a few innings into it. As far as I'm concerned NY and their team and their 20-something lame ass trophies pale in comparison to anything that is in Boston or comes from Boston.
The end :)

Is Now the Right Time To Say I Love You?
My friend that was a wonderful article you wrote up there. Seriously on the basis of what you wrote there you could get elected to public office in any New England state and fuck the politics :D. You said it all…praised Boston, praised our team and dumped dirt in a logical and sophisticated manner on our hated enemies from New York Shitty. Thank you so much, may you live a long and happy life. A’s rule btw, my little brother’s a devout Oakland Athletics cap (he found an old cap that used to belong to my dad in the cupboard when he was three years old and he’s supported them ever since, even though he cries a lot cause they haven’t been so good lately :( Shape up A’s! ;) Thanks again on behalf of Red Sox Nation for your wonderful article.

I'm glad you had a nice experience in Boston.
It’s a wonderful city, and I’ve had the pleasure of living there my entire life (except college in Western MA).
While most Sox fans are respectful towards other teams, the Yankees is a general exception. At the most recent game I went to (9/2, Lester vs. Baltimore’s Liz), I saw a group of Sox fans ejected by security for chanting “Yankees suck!” and grabbing the hat of a person in attendance. This was at a game against Baltimore, mind you. As a group, we’re often irrational when it comes to the Yankees, which is why they still get mentioned despite being in second place.

I Totally Agree Yankee Fans Are Obviously Not People
Ok that might be overdoing it a little bit. I also said once (in the safe folds of the anonymous web mind you) that the only good yankee is a dead yankee. That might also have been overdoing it somewhat. haha, the point is we Red Sox fans cannot stand the New York (W)ankees or their fans. Them and their 27 Cornflakes Surprise rings. We’ve had to hear that for so long…as if it’s all about titles, it’s not, spirit plays a huge role. And we Red Sox fans, for the most part, are full of spirit. Oh yeah, but the two new World Series Titles are also nice. :D

I've been in a lot of places as well
And I never been in anywhere quite as good as Boston. Maybe only the city I was born in, Rio de Janeiro. I just LOVE Boston, and I miss it very much.
And the Yankee Stadium flat out sucks…
Mother---- him and John Wayne!

I've always wanted to go to Fenway
But have never been. That is going to be our family’s next big vacation. Great article, BTW. Well written.
The only stadiums I have ever been to are the Padres stadium ( Petco), Wrigley Field (twice), and the Trop for my b-day when they played the Sox last year (L 5-4).
Petco was a great park, and Mike Cameron almost hot for the cycle, with a double, triple, and home run. 8th inning, and he gets walked on 5 pitches.
Wrigley, was, well, Wrigley, and I got to see Roger Clemens (when he was with the Astros) pitch against Greg Maddux. Roger won.
At the Trop, it was Wakefield (19-2 then all-time against the Rays) against someone else. They actually lost, 5-4, but the Sox had just clinched a playoff spot the night before and were giving most their players a rest.
He who hesitates is tagged out between first and second base./ Media is plural for mediocre./ If the left part of the brain controls the right part of the body, then only lefties are in the right mind./ If you think the Rays suck, then try walking to Boston in Joe Maddon's shoes. That way, when you say they suck, you're in Boston and you have his shoes!/ Baseball is like church, many go, but few understand.

Come back any time
Which of the local establishments (bars) did you visit, and what was your favorite non-Fenway place?

I have no idea where we went
I was the only American in a group of foreigners. It really was the bling leading the blind. the 1st place was like a loft, with no lights, and 1 bartender and everything was real trendy. I just wanted some beer and a pool table. I guess it’s the years of living in Arkansas that did that to me. Then we walked a few blocks to a place that was blasting 80’s music. I knew this was my place. It was small, and there was lots of awesome bad music. It’s also where I had like a TON of free beer. The entire group was all dressed up to go out, I was still ln all my A’s stuff because I had come straight from the game. I felt a little awkward, but some guys in Red Sox gear bought me some beers at the bar for flying solo and supporting the cause!!
