Buehrle's doing well tonight...

52 pitches through 4 innings, only one hit, no BBs, and 4 Ks.

Good evening

I hope I don’t get banned for saying this, but Buehrle is a fine enough pitcher. I know I might be alone on this. :)

It's the same old story. Boy finds girl, boy loses girl, girl finds boy, boy forgets girl, boy remembers girl, girls dies in a tragic blimp accident over the Orange Bowl on New Year's Day.

Jason Bay sure likes striking out on away pitches

I forgot how fast Buehrle pitchs

He is the pitcher you want to see pitching if you have to be somewhere in less than 3 hours and you’re not a Red Sox fan. Dammit Coco…

Meh

I’d guess we’re not winning this one.

Bet the Sox

but an NL team fan. Do the Sox hit lefties?

by njnick on Aug 8, 2008 9:26 PM EDT up reply actions

In short, yes.

The Red Sox have been pretty good against lefties. You can check it under team batting splits on baseball-reference.com, but I think the numbers will validate this.

Got em.

i saw the baseball reference numbers. I guess I should have been more specific. Do they get shut down by the better Left-Handed pitchers and beat up on the weaker ones. Im a cards fan and the better lefties dominate the cards. They may have their days when they work a less than average lefty tho. But, if they go up against a strong one it is lights out.

by njnick on Aug 8, 2008 9:41 PM EDT up reply actions

Most of the better lefties are in the NL.

I’m thinking of Santana and Sabathia.
And bs.uf… We posted at the same time, so I didn’t see your numbers.

A good pitcher dominates us when he's having a good game

From Wang to Buehrle, if they pitch very well on any given night this team will look dead.

by MerryGoByeBye on Aug 8, 2008 9:45 PM EDT up reply actions

I think that's true of every team.

Good pitcher shuts you down, you have to look bad.

by 0157H7 on Aug 8, 2008 9:51 PM EDT up reply actions

Except Lackey wasn’t pitching that well in the no-hit bid. Balls hit hard off him were going straight into outfielders’ gloves. He didn’t get many strikeouts or groundouts.

by 0157H7 on Aug 8, 2008 9:58 PM EDT up reply actions

Sure

I meant that it doesn’t matter if they’re righty or lefty.

Don't count out the offense.

Lester should get out of this inning with Quentin up with 2 outs, runner on 3rd

by bdalebs on Aug 8, 2008 9:26 PM EDT up reply actions

The offense's looking dead

I’m not quite giving up on this one yet, but a pretty lousy game so far.

Buehrle up around 90 pitches. The Sox might have better luck against the pen.

by 0157H7 on Aug 8, 2008 9:36 PM EDT reply actions

Yep

But Lowell and Papi look fucking lost at the plate.

Even with the walk

He’s looking lost. Not just tonight. But it may just be Buehrle having a good night, I’m not sure.
